Okay, so I’ve been playing a ton of Pokémon Go lately, and I hit a bit of a roadblock with this whole Galarian Slowbro vs. Slowking thing. I had a bunch of Slowpoke candies saved up, and I was ready to evolve my best Slowpoke. But then I found out you can get two different forms, and I was like, “Wait, what? Which one do I pick?”
I did what any sane person would do – I started googling like crazy. Turns out, it’s not as simple as just picking the one that looks cooler (though, let’s be honest, they both look pretty cool). Some folks online were saying Galarian Slowbro is the way to go because of its stats, while others were swearing by Galarian Slowking and something called “Trick Room.” I had no clue what that even meant at the time.

So, I decided to do some hands-on research. I had enough candies to evolve two Slowpokes, so I figured, why not get both and see what happens? I evolved one into a Galarian Slowbro, no problem, just fed it 50 candies. Easy peasy.
- Evolved my first Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowbro with 50 candies.
- Felt pretty good about my decision.
Getting the Galarian Slowking was a bit trickier, though. The game wanted me to do some special tasks with the Slowpoke as my buddy. I had to catch a bunch of Psychic-type Pokémon, which was a bit of a pain, but I managed to do it eventually. Finally, I got my Galarian Slowking.
- Set a Slowpoke as my buddy.
- Caught a ton of Psychic-type Pokémon (what a grind!).
- Finally evolved my second Slowpoke into a Galarian Slowking.
Now I had both, and it was time to test them out. I took them into some battles, tried them out in raids, the whole nine yards. And you know what? They’re both pretty solid, but they definitely have their own strengths and weaknesses. Galarian Slowbro seems like a better all-around attacker, while Galarian Slowking is more of a niche pick, especially in that “Trick Room” scenario I read about (still not 100% sure what that is, but it seems to make slower Pokémon attack first…weird).
My Conclusion?
Honestly, it really does depend on what you need. If you want a good generalist, Galarian Slowbro is probably the safer bet. But if you’re into more specialized strategies, Galarian Slowking might be your guy. I’m still experimenting with both, but it’s been a fun little adventure figuring it all out. At the end of the day, I just got two cool Pokémon, so that’s a win in my book.
