Alright, so I wanted to mess around with this whole “MTG Alchemy Metagame” thing. I’m not a pro or anything, just a dude who likes playing Magic: The Gathering in my spare time. I saw some people talking about this Alchemy format online, and I figured, why not give it a shot?
First off, I started by doing some digging to find out what the top decks even were. Just a quick search and I found some articles about the “Top MTG Alchemy Decks for January 2025”. Sounds kinda fancy, right? I just wanted to know what I’d be up against.

I read through a few of these articles. They talked about the usual suspects, like aggro decks and control decks. There were some interesting strategies mentioned, and they even listed out some key cards that were apparently dominating the format. I jotted down a few deck ideas that seemed cool. It is a mess to remember those complicated names of cards.
After that, I decided to build a couple of decks based on what I read. I logged into the game, opened up my collection, and started throwing things together. I didn’t have all the fancy cards, but I made do with what I had. I just simply want to test.
- First, I built a fast red deck. Because everyone likes a red deck.
- Then, I tried to make a slower blue/white control deck.
Then came the real test. I jumped into some matches to see how my cobbled-together decks would fare. Let me tell you, it was a mixed bag.
I won some games, I lost some games. The red deck was pretty fun, just smashing face and hoping for the best. The control deck was trickier, but when it worked, it felt pretty good. I am tired to play a lot and just played some.
I learned a few things from playing these matches. Some cards were definitely as strong as the articles said they were. Others, not so much. I made some mental notes on what to change in my decks, what cards to add if I got them, and what strategies seemed to work well. I would like to say it is easy, but it is not.
Honestly, I’m still figuring this whole Alchemy meta thing out. It seems like there’s a lot of room to experiment and try different things. I keep trying to find information on the Internet but only get few information.
My Future Plan
I think I’ll keep tinkering with these decks and see where it takes me. Maybe I’ll even try to brew something completely new. Who knows? That’s the fun of Magic, right? You never know what you’ll come up with. Just keep trying to make it better and stronger, I guess.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into the MTG Alchemy meta so far. It’s been a fun ride, and I’m excited to see what happens next. Wish me luck, haha.
