Okay, so, I’ve been playing Pokemon GO for a while now, and I got really into trying to catch a Shiny Absol. It was a bit of a grind, but I learned a few things along the way that I thought I’d share.
First off, I started to see that catching a Shiny Absol, or any Shiny Pokemon in general, is pretty much a game of chance. I read somewhere that the regular odds for catching a Shiny are like 1 in 512. Yeah, not great. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I noticed that during certain events, these odds can get better, sometimes way better. But, these events are not always around, so I started planning for the long game.
Getting Down to Business
So, I began to do some digging online. It looks like the best way to increase the chance is to just encounter more Pokemon. More encounters equals more chances, right? I started walking more, hatching eggs, basically playing every chance I got. This is when I was reminded that, unlike the main games, the chances in Pokemon GO are pretty set. But hey, there are ways to help lady luck a little.
- Raids: I started hitting up Legendary Raids like crazy. I read that these give you a better chance at Shinies. They were tough, but honestly, it was fun teaming up with other players.
- Team GO Rocket: This one was a bit of a surprise. I found out that battling the Team GO Rocket Leaders – Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra – can sometimes lead to a Shiny encounter. I mean, who knew? I started battling them whenever I could. Beating them wasn’t easy, but it was a nice change of pace.
- Keep Playing: I figured the more I played, the more Absol I’d run into. It’s not rocket science. I focused on areas where Absol was known to spawn more often and played there.
After a few weeks, and honestly, what felt like a hundred battles and encounters, I finally found my Shiny Absol! It was pretty exciting, to say the least. I got lucky, but I also put in the work.
