Okay, so I’ve been totally obsessed with Animal Crossing lately, and specifically, I’ve been trying to get my island looking all lush and beautiful. I saw these gorgeous hydrangeas on someone else’s island and I was like, “I gotta have those!” So I started my little mission to get some hydrangeas blooming on my own island.
First, I had to figure out where to even get them. Turns out, Leif, that cute little sloth who sells plants, he’s the guy. He doesn’t come every day, you know, so I had to keep an eye out for him. I missed him a couple of times, which was a bummer, but hey, patience is a virtue, right?

Waiting For Leif
- Checked daily: Every morning, first thing, I’d run to the plaza to see if Leif was there.
- Missed him a few times: It’s easy to forget, life gets busy! But I tried to be consistent.
Then, finally, one glorious day, there he was! Leif had hydrangea starts! I bought a bunch of them, both pink and blue – I wanted a good mix. I was so excited, I think I spent like half my bells that day, but it was worth it.
Next, I had to plant them. I didn’t want to just stick them anywhere, I wanted them to look nice. I spent a good chunk of time planning out where they’d go. I decided to put them along the paths, you know, to make the paths look extra pretty. I also put some around the houses, because who doesn’t want to wake up to a view of beautiful hydrangeas?
Planting and Decorating
- Planned the layout: I didn’t want to just randomly plant them, I wanted a nice aesthetic.
- Planted along paths: This created a nice border and made the paths feel more inviting.
- Planted near houses: Added a touch of beauty to the villagers’ homes.
Then came the waiting game. It takes a few days for them to fully bloom, and I’m not the most patient person, to be honest. I checked on them like every hour, haha. I watered them every day, even though I read that you don’t have to, but I just wanted to make sure they were happy and healthy.
And finally, after what felt like forever, they bloomed! They were even more beautiful than I imagined. My island looks so much more colorful and lively now. I’m so proud of my little hydrangea garden!
It was a bit of a process, waiting for Leif, planning, planting, and waiting some more, but seeing those beautiful blooms made it all worthwhile. My island is really starting to feel like home now, and those hydrangeas are a big part of that. If you’re playing Animal Crossing, I totally recommend getting some hydrangeas, they really make a difference!
