Alright, so, I’ve been messing around with this “hook” thing in 2k24, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I heard some folks saying “Mastering this shot can give you an edge,” and I was like, “Yeah, right, let’s see about that.”
So, I jumped into the game, and started my way. First things first, I went into the settings. I found this thing called “Shot Feedback” and switched it to “all shots.” I figured it might help me get the hang of this hook shot thing. Then, I saw something about “Motion Blur” and turned it off completely. I wanted to see everything crisp and clear, you know?

Now, onto the actual shot. I tried a bunch of different players, but ended up using Joel Embiid’s shot style. I watched his feet, not even looking at the green bar, just trying to get the timing right. It was rough at first. I was trying to shoot over these smaller defenders, and even when the feedback said “open,” I was still missing. Frustrating, to say the least.
Then, I started experimenting with this “shimmy” move. I didn’t even know it was in the game, but I quickly found it out. Basically, you just do a little shoulder shake before you take the shot. It’s supposed to throw off the defender. And you know what? It actually worked! I started making a few more shots, and it felt pretty good. That little shimmy made a big difference.
I’m still not a pro at this hook shot thing, but I’m definitely getting better. It’s not easy, and it takes practice, but I think it’s worth it. If you can get this shot down, it can really give you an advantage in the game. I just kept practicing, messing up, figuring it out little by little.
Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
- Use Joel Embiid’s shot: Seems to be the easiest to get the timing right.
- Watch the feet: I focused on his feet instead of the meter.
- Do the shimmy: That little shoulder shake is key.
- Turn off Motion Blur: Makes everything clearer.
- Turn on Shot Feedback (all shots): Helps you learn the shot.
- Practice, practice, practice: You’re not gonna master it overnight.
So yeah, that’s my experience with the hook shot in 2k24. It’s a tough shot, but it’s definitely rewarding when you get it right. Hope this helps some of you guys out there who are struggling with it. Just keep at it, and you’ll get there.
Good luck, and keep hooping!
