I’ve been messing around with NBA 2K24 lately, and I wanted to share my experience with figuring out this whole “hook” thing. It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you.
So, first off, I dove into the game, trying to get a feel for what’s new. I noticed a lot of talk about these “post hooks” and “post fades” in the community. Some folks were saying post hook and post fade 3 are the real deal, and apparently, post fade 2 is fast, while post fade 3 gives you some space. I was like, “Alright, let’s see what this is all about.”

I started experimenting with different player builds. I read somewhere that having a 94 driving dunk is the sweet spot for a point guard, especially if you’re into that 5-out playstyle. I don’t have a 94 driving dunk build now. I messed around with it for a bit, and it seemed pretty solid. I also checked out some guides talking about the best builds for different positions, like the top 5 builds for center, power forward, small forward, and point guard. It’s a lot to take in, but I wanted to get a good foundation.
Then, I moved on to actually trying out these post hooks. I figured the best way to learn was by doing, right? I tried to get the ball on the strong side, just like some guide suggested. Once I had the ball, I’d post up and take a step towards the free-throw line in one quick motion.
Man, it took a while to get the hang of it! Sometimes I’d fumble the ball, other times I’d get blocked. But I kept at it. Slowly but surely, I started to see some success. I even managed to pull off a few of those sweet sky hooks like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. It felt amazing when it finally clicked.
I also played around with different post hook styles. Like I mentioned earlier, post hook 3 seemed to create the most space, which was super helpful when I was up against tough defenders. It wasn’t easy, but I’m definitely getting better.
- Tried different builds: Point guards, centers, you name it.
- Practiced post-ups: Getting the ball on the strong side, quick step towards the free-throw line.
- Experimented with hook styles: Post hook 3 is my go-to for creating space.
Honestly, it’s been a fun and frustrating experience. There’s so much to learn in this game, but I’m enjoying the process. I’m not a pro or anything, but I thought I’d share my journey in case anyone else is trying to figure out this 2K24 hook stuff. Keep practicing, and you’ll get there!
