Okay, so today I wanted to dive into something I’ve been messing around with in MLB The Show 23: how to request a trade. It’s not rocket science, but it took me a minute to figure it all out, so I figured I’d share my experience.
First off, I booted up the game and headed straight into the “Road to the Show” mode. That’s where you get to create your own player and guide him through his career, you know, the usual deal. Created my guy, a promising young infielder, ready to make his mark. Started in the minors, as expected, and began the grind, playing games, completing challenges, and leveling up my player’s skills.

After a while, I felt like I was ready for the big leagues, but my team just wasn’t promoting me. Or maybe you get drafted to a team you hate. That’s when I realized I needed a change of scenery. So, I went digging through the menus and finally found it – the option to request a trade. It’s kind of tucked away, but it’s there.
You navigate to the “My Ballplayer” tab, then go into “My Career,” and boom, there’s a tile that says “Request Trade.” Clicked on that bad boy, and it brought up a list of all the MLB teams. Here’s the fun part – you get to pick your preferred destination. It’s not a guarantee that you will get traded to them, of course. I picked a few teams I thought would be a good fit, and then, you just wait.
Simulation
- I simulated a few games.
- Then my agent called me up.
- He told me he was working on getting me traded.
A couple of in-game weeks went by, and then, bam! I got the news – I was traded! It wasn’t to my top choice, but hey, I was out of that old team and onto a new adventure. After you’re traded, you pack your bags and head off to a different city, a new team, and hopefully, a better opportunity to shine.
And that’s pretty much it. It’s a cool feature to have in the game, especially if you feel stuck or just want to shake things up. So, if you’re playing MLB The Show 23 and find yourself in a similar situation, don’t be afraid to request a trade. It might just be the best thing for your virtual career.
Give it a try, and let me know how it goes for you!
