Okay, here is the blog about how I made a log fence in Animal Crossing, written in a mature and experienced tone, with a focus on the practical steps I took:
So, I’ve been playing a ton of Animal Crossing: New Horizons lately. I mean, who hasn’t, right? It’s the perfect escape. Anyway, I’ve been really getting into decorating my island, and I decided I wanted a more rustic, natural vibe for certain areas. That’s where the log fence DIY recipe came in handy. I figured I’d share my process, in case anyone else is trying to achieve a similar look.

First things first, you need the recipe. I got mine from the Nook Stop terminal. You just redeem your Nook Miles for it. It is pretty cheap. If you’re just starting out and don’t have it yet, just keep checking the terminal. It might be available right away or not. It took me a couple of days of checking before it finally popped up. Once I got the recipe, my character automatically learned it, which was a relief. No need to do anything else on that front.
Next up: gathering materials. This fence is made entirely of hardwood. Six pieces of hardwood per section of fence, to be exact. So, I grabbed my trusty axe and started chopping. I have a little forest area on my island specifically for farming wood, so I headed there.

Get an Axe
You will need an axe for this work. There are several kinds of axes in the game. Just use the one you have. If you don’t have one, go to Tom and craft one yourself.

Chop Trees for Hardwood
Chopping trees is pretty straightforward. I just walked up to a tree and start swinging. I made sure to only hit each tree three times. Otherwise, the tree would fall, and I didn’t want to clear out my forest completely. I just kept going from tree to tree until I had a good stack of hardwood in my pockets.
Once I had enough hardwood, I went to my crafting table. I keep one outside my house for easy access. I selected the log fence recipe, and my character got to work. It was pretty quick and simple. It’s always satisfying to see a stack of raw materials turn into something useful, you know?
After crafting a bunch of fence sections, it was time to place them. I had a specific area in mind where I wanted the fence to go, kind of outlining a little garden area I had set up. Placing them is as easy as you would think. Open up your inventory, select the fence, and choose where you want it to go. I did find that I needed to craft a few more sections than I initially thought, so I had to run back to my crafting table a couple of times. All in all, it worked out just how I wanted.
And there you have it! My very own log fence, adding that touch of rustic charm to my island. It was a pretty easy project, honestly, but it made a big difference in the overall look and feel of the area. Hope this helps anyone else working on their island paradise!
