Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this little guy, Smeargle, in Pokémon GO. This dude’s a Normal-type, which means he’s only really scared of Fighting-type moves. His max CP is nothing to write home about, like 487 or something. But, he’s got this whole gimmick where he can learn any move through his signature move, Sketch.
I wanted to figure out the best moveset for this guy, you know, make him somewhat usable. It took a while, lots of trial and error. First, I tried to understand what moves are even possible. Then I started experimenting, had Smeargle sketch all sorts of stuff from other Pokémon during battles. It was kind of a mess, to be honest, but a fun mess. I battled a ton, against all sorts of Pokémon, to see what worked and what didn’t.

My Experiment
- First,I tried to catch a Smeargle, but it is not easy, it will appear as a photobomb in AR photo mode.
- Then, I spent a long time taking pictures every day. I almost gave up.
- Finally, one day, it suddenly appeared. It is so tiny, that I even miss it.
- Next, I tried to teach it some moves. I spent a lot of stardust and candy, but it all worth it.
- After I taught it the moves, I went to test it out in battles.
After hours of this, I finally landed on a moveset that I think is pretty decent. It’s not gonna make Smeargle some kind of raid boss or anything, but it’s fun to use and can actually surprise people in PvP sometimes. This whole process was a headache, but hey, I learned a lot about this quirky little Pokémon.
This journey wasn’t just about finding the best moves. It was about exploring what makes Smeargle unique. I got to see the potential in a Pokémon that most people overlook. Yeah, it’s not the strongest, but I got it to hold its own, and that’s a win in my book. I even managed to piece together some understanding of concepts like “Knowledge management” and “Information management” through all the notes I took and the patterns I started to see. It’s like, I was managing all this info on Smeargle, and that was a whole other level of learning.
So yeah, that’s my Smeargle story. It’s been a wild ride, full of ups and downs. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I hope my little experiment helps someone out there who’s also trying to make sense of this weird, wonderful Pokémon. And who knows, maybe you’ll discover something new along the way, just like I did. Happy training, folks!
