Okay, so I’ve been messing around with MLB The Show 24 again, and you know how they do those live roster updates? Well, I decided to really dive into the latest one that dropped on October 3rd. It was supposed to be ready to go by 4 AM Pacific Time, so I set my alarm clock for the crack of dawn to start it.
I fired up the game and went straight to check out the rosters. First thing I noticed, they got the sponsor helmet decals displaying for Postseason teams now in Road to the Show, Franchise, and March to October modes. I felt it was pretty neat!

Then I started digging into the player changes. These are always fun to see who got moved where. For instance, Blake Treinen is now a closer for the Dodgers. And get this, Danny Coulombe is the new closer for the Orioles! I thought this setting might be great news for some of my friends who are fans of them.
- Dodgers: Blake Treinen (CP)
- Orioles: Danny Coulombe (CP), Tyler Wells (SP), Craig Kimbrel (CP), Yennier Cano (RP)
- Reds: Matt McLain (SS)
- Red Sox: Liam Hendriks (RP), Jarren Duran (RF)
They also had Matt McLain now playing shortstop for the Reds, and Liam Hendriks is a relief pitcher for the Red Sox. Some other changes I saw were Tyler Wells is a starting pitcher for the Orioles now. Craig Kimbrel is back to being a closer for them, and Yennier Cano got moved to a relief pitcher role for the Orioles. Oh, and Jarren Duran is playing right field for the Red Sox now.
I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through all the player ratings. You can search and sort by all kinds of stats, which is super handy. They added a bunch of new Topps Now players from the Season Awards Series. It’s cool that you can earn them and kind of relive their big moments in the game.
There is one part that I did not find in the update. It seems there is no James in the Red Sox. I am not sure if it was a mistake or not.
Overall, this roster update got me excited to play some more. It’s always fun to see the game reflect what’s actually happening in the real world. I kept experiencing game-deciding moments by searching and exploring.
