Okay, so, let’s talk about eggs. I was thinking, “Where the heck do eggs even come from, besides the grocery store?” I mean, I know, I know, chickens, duh. But like, where are the chickens? So I started poking around, trying to figure this out.
First, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole. I was reading stuff, you know, like you do. One site was all about some game, “RoyalDice”. I guess you can play it with friends and you’re supposed to beat other people to become some kind of “dice master”? Not really what I was looking for, so I moved on.

Then I found this study site, Quizlet. I used to use something similar in school to memorize the content, it helps me to review the knowledge. A lot of random terms there. I saw something about “binary format” and “CodePlex,” which sounded super technical. Also, a bunch of stuff about a “social construct” and some health department. Not egg-related at all, so I bounced.
I also stumbled on some weird coding stuff. One thing was talking about how to display the square of a number. I don’t get it, what do I need to do with the square of a number. I’m not a math or a coding person. Another thing was talking about URLs. I just knew the concept of URL, but I don’t know how to encode them or decode them. It’s not really relevant to what I was looking for anyway. Then there was a random bit about CPR and something about deleting a file called “*.” None of this is helping me find eggs. I needed a new plan.
I switched gears. I thought, “Okay, if I want to find eggs, I need to find chickens.”
So I started looking up chicken farms near me. I figured that’s where I’d find the most chickens, and therefore, the most eggs. I found a few places that seemed promising. They were actual farms, not just some industrial place. These are good.
Then I thought, why not call a farm and see if I can go check it out? I did that.
Visiting a farm
- First, I called and made sure it was okay to come by. The person on the phone was super nice and said they’d love to have me.
- I drove out there. It was a bit of a drive, but it was a nice day, so I didn’t mind.
- When I got there, I met the farmer. They were really friendly and showed me around.
- I saw the chickens! They were all over the place, clucking and doing chicken things. It was kinda cool.
- The farmer explained how they collect the eggs. They showed me the nesting boxes and how they make sure the eggs are clean and safe.
- They even let me collect a few eggs myself! It was a little weird at first, reaching under a chicken, but I got the hang of it.
So, yeah, that’s how I found out where eggs come from. It was a fun little adventure. I learned a lot, and I got to see some cute chickens. Plus, I got some fresh eggs to take home, which was a bonus. Now I know that if I want fresh eggs, I can always go straight to the source. I am so happy that I did this! It’s much better than only buying eggs from the grocery store.
