Okay, so a buddy of mine asked me the other day how to get into the FedEx Cup in PGA 2K21. I figured, I play this game all the time, why not give it a shot myself and see what happens? Here’s how it went down for me.
Getting Started
First off, I started a new PGA Tour Career. I mean, you can’t get into the FedEx Cup without actually playing in the tour, right? So I created my golfer, picked my clubs, and got ready to tee off.

The Regular Season Grind
This was the longest part. I played through each tournament of the regular season. Some weeks I played great, others, not so much. I focused on trying to place as high as possible in each event to earn those precious FedEx Cup points. These points are super important because they determine your standing in the FedEx Cup rankings. I also made sure to complete sponsor goals and rival challenges to earn extra points and rewards, which was a nice little boost.
- Win tournaments: Obviously, winning gets you a ton of points. I managed to snag a few wins, which helped a lot.
- Place high: Even if I didn’t win, I aimed to finish in the top 10 or top 25 whenever possible. Every point counts!
- Don’t miss the cut: Missing the cut means zero points for that tournament. I tried my best to stay consistent and at least make the cut in every event.
Making the Playoffs
After grinding through the regular season, I finally made it to the FedEx Cup Playoffs! This is where things really heat up. Only the top 125 players in the rankings qualify for the first playoff event, The Northern Trust. I squeezed in somewhere in the middle of the pack, so I knew I had to bring my A-game.
The Playoff Push
The playoffs consist of three events: The Northern Trust, the BMW Championship, and the Tour Championship. After each event, the field of players gets smaller. I played my heart out in each tournament, trying to climb the leaderboard. I had a good showing at The Northern Trust, but struggled a bit at the BMW. Still, my overall points were good enough to advance me to the final round!
The Tour Championship
This is it, the final showdown! Only the top 30 players make it to the Tour Championship. I found myself among the best of the best, feeling the pressure. I knew that a strong performance here would determine the ultimate FedEx Cup champion. I took each shot carefully, focused on my game, and tried to stay calm under pressure.
The Result
Well, I didn’t win the whole thing, but I managed to finish in the top 10 at the Tour Championship, which was a huge accomplishment for me! I earned a nice chunk of FedEx Cup points and boosted my overall ranking. It was a long and challenging journey, but I finally made it through all the playoffs and competed in the Tour Championship. I can now finally tell my buddy how it’s done, and honestly, it felt pretty darn good.
