Okay, so I’ve been grinding it out in League of Legends lately, and with the new year, there’s been a lot of buzz about the ranked reset. I figured I’d share my experience with it, especially since it’s changing again for 2025.
First off, I started by digging into what this whole “ranked reset” thing actually means. From what I gathered, every year, League does this thing where they kind of shuffle everyone’s ranks. It’s called a “soft reset,” which basically means they don’t just throw you back to square one, but they do bring you down a bit. It is based on your current rank and MMR.

This year, 2024, they split the ranked season into three parts, I mean, three splits. I have been hustling to rack up those Split Points and climb as high as I can, and the first split will end on May 14. And the reward, like the Victorious Master Yi Skin, really depends on how many points I get and my rank. For someone like me, in the Iron to Silver range, that means hitting at least 1000 Split Points.
The first split kicked off in January, and it came with some changes, like a fresh map design and a new game mode they were trying out. I spent a good chunk of time adjusting to these changes, trying to figure out the best strategies on the new map and how to make the most of my favorite champions in the new mode.
But here’s the kicker, I just found out that starting in 2025, they’re only going to do one ranked reset per year, and it’ll be at the very beginning, like January 9. I guess that means the grind will be even more intense next year, with everything riding on that one big reset.
I also checked out a recent dev update from the League of Legends team, you know, just to see if there were any other big changes coming up. Besides the whole ranked reset thing, they talked about some client changes and updates to the game in general. It’s always good to stay in the loop with these things, especially when you’re trying to climb the ranked ladder.
So yeah, that’s my experience with the League of Legends ranked reset so far. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, with the split seasons, the new map, and now the news about the single reset in 2025. I am still trying to make the most of this first split before it ends in May, and then I guess I will see how it goes after that. But one thing’s for sure, I am going to keep grinding and see how high I can climb!
