Alright, so I’ve been trying to get into Diablo 4 on my PS5 lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a mess. I kept getting kicked out, couldn’t stay connected, you name it. It was super frustrating because, you know, you just want to unwind and slay some demons after a long day.
So, I started messing around, trying to figure out what the heck was going on. First thing I checked was whether my game was up to date. The server and my game should be on the same version. I checked it carefully, and yeah, my game was updated.

Then I did what I always do when my console is acting up – I turned it off completely. I’m not just talking about putting it in rest mode, but a full shutdown. You hold down the power button until you hear that second beep, and the little light goes off. That’s when you know it’s really off.
Once it was completely off, I held down the power button again to put it into safe mode. It asked me to plug in the controller, so I did that, and then this menu popped up with a bunch of options. I picked the one that said “Clear Cache”. I figured, why not? Maybe there was some junk clogging up the system.
After I selected that, the PS5 restarted itself. I was a little anxious, hoping I didn’t mess anything up. After it booted back up, I fired up Diablo 4 again, fingers crossed. And guess what? It actually worked! I was able to connect to the server, and I played for a good while without any issues. No more lag, no more getting disconnected. It was smooth sailing, or rather, smooth demon-slaying.
I’m not sure if it was just a fluke, but clearing the cache seemed to do the trick. I know there were other people online saying they were having problems with the PS5 servers for Diablo 4 around the same time I was, so maybe it was a combination of things. Whatever the case, I wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone else out there. If you’re pulling your hair out trying to play Diablo 4 on your PS5, give this a try. It might just work for you too.
My to-do list:
- Check game updates – made sure my game was the latest version.
- Power down PS5 – did a full shutdown by holding down the power button.
- Enter Safe Mode – booted up in Safe Mode and connect the controller.
- Clear Cache – selected the option to clear the system cache.
- Restart and play – let the PS5 restart, launched Diablo 4, and it worked.
So yeah, that’s my story. Hopefully, this helps someone out there who’s banging their head against the wall trying to get their game to work. Good luck, and happy gaming!
