Man, I finally got around to tackling those Virizion raids in Pokémon GO. It was a doozy, let me tell you. I spent a whole day on it. Here’s how it went down.
First off, I rounded up my crew. I knew Virizion was a Grass/Fighting type, so it was weak against a bunch of stuff, especially Flying. My buddy list was looking pretty good with the likes of a few high-level birds and some other things. We even found some Shiny ones like Shiny Palkia-Origin and Shiny Dialga-Origin.

Gathering the Troops
- Rayquaza: This guy’s a beast. Dragon Ascent was the go-to move.
- Moltres: Sky Attack all the way, baby.
- Yveltal: Oblivion Wing, because who doesn’t love a good dark-type move?
- Honchkrow: Gotta love those Peck and Sky Attack combos.
I also threw in a few other heavy hitters like my trusty Mewtwo with Psystrike, and a beefy Ho-Oh packing Brave Bird.
The First Few Raids
We jumped into the first raid, and, not gonna lie, it was rough. Virizion’s Leaf Blade was hitting like a truck. My Rayquaza and Moltres were doing okay, but they were taking some serious damage. We managed to take it down, but it was close. I realized I needed to switch up my strategy.
So, for the next raid, I decided to go full-on Flying. I led with my Rayquaza, followed by Moltres, Yveltal, and Honchkrow. It was much smoother this time. We took down Virizion with plenty of time to spare. I even managed to catch it, which was a relief after that first shaky attempt. And it happened to be a shiny Virizion! I was shocked.
Learning and Adapting
After a few more raids, I got the hang of it. The key was to dodge those charge moves, especially Leaf Blade. Once I figured out the timing, it was a breeze. I even experimented with some other Pokémon, like my Staraptor and Braviary. They weren’t as strong as the big-name legendaries, but they held their own. And I saw some people using those Gigantamax like Gengar and Toxtricity, but I didn’t have those.
By the end of the day, I had caught a bunch of Virizion, including a couple with really good IVs. I was stoked. It was a long day, but it was totally worth it. I learned a lot about Virizion’s moves, the best counters, and how to dodge like a pro. Plus, I added some sweet new Pokémon to my collection. All in all, a successful raid day in my book.
