So, I was playing Sea of Thieves yesterday and stumbled upon this whole “Mermaid Puzzle” thing. I heard about it before, but never really got into it. Figured, why not give it a shot?
I started sailing, looking for those shrines that supposedly have these puzzles. First one I found was the “Shrine of Tribute”. The deal here is to change these mermaid statues to some specific sequence – high, medium, low. Sounds simple enough, right?
I swam around, checking out the statues. There were a bunch of them, all different colors. I knew the red ones were the toughest, from what I’d read. Someone online mentioned needing like five Gunpowder Barrels to destroy one. Good thing I didn’t run into a red one right away, I definitely didn’t have that much firepower on me.
I started fiddling with the statues, trying to get them in the right order. It took some trial and error, but I eventually figured out the sequence for this shrine. It was a bit of a pain, swimming back and forth, but hey, that’s part of the adventure.
After messing around with the statues, I eventually got to collect some treasure. I saw a video online about some treasure, so I guess that is what I got. I also saw someone say that you can get like 25k per puzzle chest if you have a level 5 gold hoarder Emissary and it’s during Double Gold. I’m not quite there yet, but that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Maybe I should try that tucking thing. I heard that can help spawn a mermaid quickly.
Then there’s this weird “Merfruit” thing. Apparently, it stops your Mermaid from showing up for a couple of minutes. I haven’t found any yet, but it sounds like it could be useful if you’re trying to avoid something, I guess.
Oh, and there are these Vault Puzzles too. I haven’t tried one yet, but I know you have to solve them to get to the good stuff. There are guides and stuff online, but I kinda want to try figuring it out myself first.
I only did the one puzzle this time, but it was more fun than I expected. I’m definitely going to try more of these shrines and maybe even tackle a Vault Puzzle soon.

It was a good day of pirating, even if I didn’t get super rich. Just figuring out the puzzle and exploring the shrine was a blast. I’m hooked! I’ll probably try it again later to collect more treasure.
