So, I’ve been getting into Rocket League lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I figured I’d share my experience diving into the 4v4 mode, which, as it turns out, is a whole different beast compared to the standard matches.

The first thing I noticed was just how crowded the field felt. With eight cars on the pitch, it’s like a constant rush hour. Everyone’s chasing the ball, and there’s hardly any room to maneuver. I spent the first few minutes just trying to avoid getting demolished every five seconds. I tried to apply some of the basic tips I’d picked up from beginner guides, but it was tough. I learned the hard way that patience is key in this mode.
- Keep an eye on the ball: Sounds obvious, but it’s easy to lose track of it with so much going on.
- Don’t be afraid to hang back: Sometimes, the best move is to let the chaos unfold in front of you and wait for the right opportunity.
- Rotate, rotate, rotate: Just like in other modes, rotating between offense and defense is crucial.
As I played more matches, I started to get a better feel for the rhythm of 4v4. I realized that it’s less about fancy dribbling and more about making smart passes and being in the right place at the right time. I even managed to score a few goals by capitalizing on rebounds and loose balls. A few times, I teamed up with some random players online, and we actually formed a pretty decent squad. We used quick chat to communicate, and it made a huge difference. Playing with friends, is a game-changer though. We tried the local multiplayer mode by connecting a bunch of controllers and had a blast.
After a few weeks of grinding, I wouldn’t say I’m a 4v4 pro, but I definitely improved. It’s still chaotic as heck, but I learned to embrace the madness. If you’re new to Rocket League or just looking for a change of pace, I highly recommend giving 4v4 a shot. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve, and don’t get discouraged if you get blown out a few times. It’s all part of the fun. This game is really popular right now, I checked online and saw that it was the 7th most played game in November 2024! Crazy!
