Alright, let’s talk about something I messed around with the other day – those black and white cards. You know, the kind they say are good for babies’ eyes? Well, I decided to try making some myself and see what the fuss was all about.
So, first, I grabbed some plain white cardstock I had lying around. I figured that would be sturdy enough. Then, I needed something to make the black parts. I thought about using a marker, but that seemed messy. Instead, I just printed out some solid black squares and shapes on regular paper. I cut those out – nothing fancy, just some squares, circles, and stripes. I wasn’t about to get all artistic with it, you know?

Next, I glued the black shapes onto the white cards. I made sure to switch it up, so some cards had more white space, and others were mostly black. That seemed to make sense, given what I read about babies liking that high contrast.
- Got some white cards.
- Made some black shapes.
- Stuck the shapes on the cards.
- Made sure some were more white, some more black.
Steps I did:
Once the glue was dry, I had a nice little stack of these black and white cards. Honestly, they looked pretty sharp. I can see why they’d catch a baby’s attention. And I guess if I ever need to white balance a photo, I could probably use one of these in a pinch.
Now, I don’t have a baby to test these out on, but I showed them to my friend’s little one, and he seemed pretty into them. Just stared and stared. Who knows if it’s actually doing anything for his eyes, but at least it kept him occupied for a few minutes. I call that a win.
So, yeah, that’s my little black and white card adventure. It was a fun little project, and honestly, they turned out better than I expected. Maybe I’ll make some more, just for kicks.
