Okay, so, let’s talk about this “Iron Will” perk thing. I’ve been messing around with it in my games lately, and I gotta say, it’s been a bit of a wild ride.
So, at the begin, I saw some people online saying that it is a pretty cool perk. Some said it’s underrated, some even called it “subtle OP.” That got me curious. I mean, who doesn’t like a good OP perk, right?

I started using it a few weeks ago. I was reading that it’s exclusive to this Jake Park character, but the cool thing is you can buy it, like, in the weekly shrine or whatever. I got it in Jake’s, you know, bloodweb thing, once he hit level 35.
The whole idea behind Iron Will is that it makes you quieter when you’re hurt. It’s like, you go into this “meditative-like state” and you don’t make as much noise. The game’s Wiki page says it numbs some amount of pain, so in the game it means you don’t grunt as loud when you are injured.
Here’s the kicker: It reduces the noise by 50%, 75%, or even 100% if you have the max level. That’s pretty huge, right?
- I started with the basic version, the 50% reduction.
- Then I got it to 75%.
- Finally, I maxed it out to 100%.
But here’s the catch – it doesn’t work when you’re exhausted. And it does not cause exhaustion. So if you’ve just sprinted or something, you’re gonna be making all the usual noise, even with Iron Will. I learned that the hard way a few times. Also, I found it is similar to some other perks like the “Heightened Senses” and “Shield Link”. I also tried these two things, the “Heightened Senses” is just like a crutch, which can make you avoid the threat of Leeches and Grabbers.
When I use it at first, I’m not gonna lie, it felt kinda useless. Especially when I wasn’t used to the whole exhaustion thing. I felt like I was still getting caught just as easily. But then, I started to get the hang of it. I started paying more attention to my exhaustion, and I started to see the difference. It’s one of the 23 available perks, and each tier requiring some perk points.
I’ve had some moments where I swear Iron Will saved my butt. Like, I’d be injured, hiding, and the killer would be right there, and they’d just walk right past me. It’s like I was a ninja or something. I also read some news about the “Iron Will”, like “Iron Will is a solid perk” on Jan 23, 2023, “Iron Will is a subtle OP perk” on Oct 14, 2024, and so on. I think I agree with them.
My Final Thoughts
So, is Iron Will worth it? I’d say yeah, definitely. But it’s not some magic, make-you-invisible kind of thing. You gotta use it smart. You gotta manage your exhaustion, and you gotta be sneaky. I’d say it’s one of the best perks in some games, especially in Deep Rock Galactic. And to those who haven’t tried, maybe you can have a try. I mean, it’s a pretty interesting experience.
Oh, and one more thing. I also heard that there is some “The Iron Will” thing. Some people say it is one of the best fixed Blade heads. But I haven’t tried it. Maybe I will try it later.
Anyway, that’s my two cents on Iron Will. It’s a cool perk, it’s got its quirks, but it’s definitely worth checking out. Just remember, it’s all about being smart and sneaky. Try it, and let me know what you guys think!
