Alright, let’s talk about those pesky missable trophies in FF7 Remake. I started this game like any other, thinking I’d just enjoy the ride and grab trophies as they came. Boy, was I in for a surprise!
So, my first playthrough, I just cruised through the game on normal difficulty. I was soaking in the story, the revamped graphics, all that good stuff. I did pick up a decent amount of trophies, but I wasn’t really paying attention to the missable ones. Big mistake.

Once I finished the game, I realized there’s a whole bunch of stuff I missed. Weapons, materia, some unique scenes. I felt like I only saw half the game! That’s when I learned about Chapter Select. Thank god for that feature, seriously. It lets you jump back into any chapter after you beat the game. But, it doesn’t solve all the problems. There is one thing you need to play the whole game again.
I had to start digging. Turns out, there are quite a few missables. I found out there’s this one materia called “Purple Pain” in Chapter 16. You’re playing as Tifa, and she falls down. Instead of climbing up the ladder like a normal person, you gotta do some exploring to find this thing. Who would think of that? Anyway, I jumped back into Chapter 16 using Chapter Select, followed some guides to find the exact spot, and bam, got it. One down, many more to go.
Then there were the weapons. Each character has multiple weapons scattered throughout the game, and some are hidden in chests or shops in specific chapters. Miss them, and you gotta replay that chapter. This required checking a guide for each chapter, making a note of where each weapon was, and then meticulously going through those chapters again. It was a bit of a pain, but I love the game.
But here’s the kicker: you need to beat the game on Hard mode to unlock one of the trophies. That means replaying the ENTIRE game, not just specific chapters. I did my first playthrough on normal, so I was like, “Alright, time for a second run.” But here is what I did, I switched the difficulty to easy first, and got all the missable things with the chapter select feature. This is great, because hard mode is pretty tough!
Hard mode is no joke. Enemies hit way harder, and you can’t use items. It’s a whole different ball game. I had to really change my strategy, focus on mastering the combat system, and make sure I had the right materia equipped. It was challenging, but also super rewarding. Beating those tough bosses on Hard felt amazing. So if you want to save some time, I recommend you to do all the missable ones on your first playthrough. And save the Hard mode for the second one.
So, after two playthroughs and a lot of chapter hopping, I finally got all the trophies. It was a grind, but honestly, I enjoyed the ride. FF7 Remake is a fantastic game, and experiencing it fully was worth the effort.
My advice? On your first run, play on easy or normal, enjoy the story, but keep an eye out for those missables. Use a guide, or don’t – up to you. But when you’re ready for Hard mode, be prepared for a challenge, and remember, it’s all about the journey, not just the destination.
- Playthrough 1 (Easy/Normal):
- Focus on enjoying the story.
- Collect missable items, weapons, and materia using Chapter Select after beating the game.
- Use guides if you need to, no shame in that.
- Playthrough 2 (Hard):
- Get ready for a challenge.
- No items allowed!
- Master the combat, experiment with materia.
- Feel like a total boss when you conquer it.
Hope this helps anyone out there going for that platinum trophy. It’s a journey, but a fun one. Happy gaming!
