So, I’ve been deep into “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” lately, it’s a pretty cool action RPG, you know, the second part of that whole remaking the classic “Final Fantasy VII” from back in the day. They’ve been dropping a bunch of updates for it, which is great, keeps things fresh. The one that really got me going was version 1.020, it landed some time ago and I went straight to check it out.
I started by firing up the game, eager to see what changed. First thing I noticed, some of the text in the game was fixed. Before, there were some weird missing or wrong characters here and there, nothing game-breaking, but it’s nice to see those cleaned up. It’s the little things, right?

Then I jumped into some gameplay. They fixed some bugs with the characters that would pop up in the field under certain conditions. I remember running into a few of those, where my character would just do something totally unexpected or get stuck. Glad they squashed those bugs.
Combat felt smoother too. They specifically mentioned Red XIII, one of my favorite characters. His abilities “Supernal Fervor” and “Watcher’s Spirit” were tweaked. I could feel the difference in battle, they just worked better, more fluid, you know?
- Spent a couple of hours just roaming around the different areas, trying to trigger those old bugs. Nothing. That’s a good sign.
- Got into a bunch of battles, focusing on using Red XIII and his updated abilities. Definitely saw an improvement in how those played out.
- Even went back to some older save files to see if anything felt different there. The game just ran better overall.
Here’s what I did to really test it out:
And then just last week, they dropped another one, 1.030, said to be a big one, on April 11th. So naturally, I had to check that out too. I heard it fixed a bug that was stopping people from progressing in the “Can’t Stop” quest, which is huge. I wasn’t affected by it, lucky me, but I know it was a big deal for some folks.
Most recently, I saw they are going to roll out version 1.050. They’re adding some kind of new mode that uses something called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to make the game look even better while keeping it at 60 frames per second. Sounds fancy. I’m not a tech expert, but I like the sound of better graphics and smooth gameplay. They even said if you’ve got the right setup, you might hit up to 120hz. That’s wild.
All in all, it’s been a good ride with these updates. It’s cool to see them actively working on the game, fixing things, and even adding new features. It makes me even more excited to keep playing and see what else they have in store.
The game just got even better, and it is already a great one! They put a lot of effort into fixing it up and improving the performance. So now it’s the perfect time to revisit “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” and test it out!
