Okay, so, I’ve been totally obsessed with “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” lately. I mean, who hasn’t, right? But I reached a point where I was kinda stuck with my island layout. I had all these grand ideas, but no real way to, like, see them in action before actually moving buildings and terraforming and potentially regretting it all. That’s when I found this cool tool, which called “Island Planner”.
At first, I tried to find it online, but that didn’t give me the result I expected. Then I started to search where to download it, and finally got this thing running.

I opened it, and at first, it looked a little confusing. You’ve got this blank grid, and a bunch of icons on the side. I spent a good few minutes just clicking around, trying to figure out what everything did. I started by laying down the basic landmass. You can choose different shapes and sizes, which was pretty neat. I tried to make it roughly match my current island, just to give myself a starting point.
- First I drew out my rivers.
- Then I marked where my existing buildings were.
Once I had the basics down, I started experimenting. I moved my house to a different part of the island, just to see how it would look. I added some new paths, and even tried out a little orchard area. The cool thing is, you can add all sorts of details, like trees, flowers, even furniture, just like in the game. I spent hours just messing around with different layouts, trying out different ideas. It was kinda like playing with digital LEGOs, but for my island.
It took time, but finally, I designed a perfect map.
I finally settled on a design I really liked. It was a complete overhaul of my current island, but I was super excited about it. I printed out my plan and kept it next to my Switch. Then came the hard part: actually implementing it in the game.
I started to move buildings, did some major terraforming and planted a ton of flowers. It was a lot of work, but seeing my planned layout come to life was so satisfying. It wasn’t a perfect one-to-one replica, mostly because I didn’t account for the exact sizes, but it was pretty darn close. My island looks amazing now, and it’s all thanks to this planner app.
I definitely recommend trying out this “Island Planner” thing if you’re into “Animal Crossing” and want to get serious about your island design. It’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s totally worth it in the end. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some more decorating to do!
