Okay, so I’ve been playing around with Galarian Slowpoke’s evolutions, you know, Galarian Slowbro and Galarian Slowking. I wanted to see which one is better in different situations. And boy, it’s been a ride.
First off, I started by catching a bunch of Galarian Slowpokes. Gotta have options, right? Then I went through the process of evolving them. You need those Galarica Cuffs and Wreaths, which is a bit of a pain to collect, but hey, it’s part of the fun.

Once I had both Galarian Slowbro and Galarian Slowking, I started testing them out in battles. I used them in both casual playthroughs and some competitive matches online. Here’s what I found:
In Casual Playthroughs
Honestly, Galarian Slowbro felt way better. It’s tanky enough to take hits and dish them out. Plus, it has an easier time switching into physical attackers which are everywere. I found myself using it more often because it just felt more reliable. Slowking was okay, but it didn’t stand out as much.
In Competitive Battles
Now, this is where things get interesting. Galarian Slowking really started to shine. I learned that it’s used a lot in competitive doubles, and for good reason. Its higher Special Attack and Special Defense make a big difference. Plus, it gets some cool moves like Power Gem that Slowbro doesn’t. It turned out that Trick Room is Galarian Slowking’s best friend. Setting that up changed the game completely. Suddenly, my Slowking was outspeeding everything and hitting like a truck.
I did some digging online and saw that a lot of folks prefer Galarian Slowking in competitive play. One big reason is this move called “Chilly Reception.” I tried it out, and wow, it’s a game-changer. It’s a slow pivot move that helps you bring in your heavy hitters safely. Super useful for bulky offense teams.
In Pokémon GO
I also tried them out in Pokémon GO. They have the same stats there, so it really comes down to the moves. I saw people saying that Confusion or Psychic are the best moves to use, and I agree. Both Slowbro and Slowking are pretty similar, but I found myself leaning towards Slowking a bit more because of its move pool.
My team’s got a bunch of physical attackers, so I figured Galarian Slowking would fit in better. And yeah, I totally ditched Crobat. It’s more of a utility Pokémon anyway, and I needed a special attacker.
- Casual Playthrough: Galarian Slowbro
- Competitive Battles: Galarian Slowking
- Pokémon GO: Both are good, but maybe lean towards Slowking
So, after all this experimenting and battling, I’ve definitely got a better feel for these two. They’re both cool in their own way, but it really depends on what you’re doing. For just playing through the game, Slowbro is your guy. But if you’re diving into competitive battles, Slowking is where it’s at.
