Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with Elder Scrolls Online lately, and let me tell you, picking a faction? Not as easy as it sounds. I mean, you got your Ebonheart Pact, your Daggerfall Covenant, and your Aldmeri Dominion. Each one’s got its own vibe, you know?
So, first off, I rolled with the Ebonheart Pact. I figured, hey, Morrowind’s landscapes are awesome, and I wanted to see all those Dark Elves hang out. I jumped in, started exploring. The zones were cool, ngl. I spent hours just running around, soaking it all in. I mean, who doesn’t love a good volcano backdrop, am I right?

But then, I started thinking, “What about the other guys?” So I made an alt in the Aldmeri Dominion. Let me just say, it’s a whole different world over there. You got these lush forests, and it’s all very, like, high and mighty, which I can dig. It’s like, very into the elven superiority thing, which is a whole mood. Plus, Queen Ayrenn’s whole equality thing? Pretty cool.
- Spent a good chunk of time doing quests in Khenarthi’s Roost and Auridon.
- Enjoyed the storyline, which is pretty political. High Elves are interesting, to say the least.
After that, I figured, “Why not complete the set?” So, I made another alt, this time in the Daggerfall Covenant. This one’s more about restoring the empire and less about the whole elf thing. I explored the human-centric areas, and honestly, it felt kind of refreshing after all that time with the elves.
- Played through some of the main quests. Got a good feel for the faction’s overall goals.
- It just feels different, being all about humans and trying to, you know, bring back the good old days of the empire.
Now, here’s where I got a bit strategic. I read somewhere that Dark Elves are pretty good for Stamina DPS. So, I started leveling a Dark Elf character. The extra Stamina and damage? Super helpful. I also dabbled a bit with a Magicka Sorcerer for solo play ’cause I heard they’re pretty strong and easy to use.
But then I got curious about what it’s like for other races. I did a bit of digging and found out that Khajiit and Orcs are also great for Stamina DPS. And here’s a fun fact: even High Elves can be good for Stamina DPS, which kind of surprised me. I might experiment with those later.
Then there’s the whole PvP aspect. I’ve heard different opinions on which faction is the best for PvP. Honestly, it seems like it’s more about personal preference. Some folks say Ebonheart’s got the edge, others swear by Aldmeri or Daggerfall. I haven’t dived deep into PvP yet, but it’s definitely on my to-do list. And the debate, that’s interesting.
In the end, I realized that it doesn’t really matter which faction you pick. You can play through all the content anyway. But for me, I think I like the Aldmeri Dominion the best. The scenery’s just so pretty, and I enjoy the story. But hey, that’s just me. I mean, everyone has a different opinion.
So yeah, that’s my story about messing around with factions in Elder Scrolls Online. It’s been a wild ride, and I’m still not done. There’s just so much to explore and try out! The most interesting part for me was discovering all the different storylines and landscapes. Each faction really does offer something unique.
What I learned
- Ebonheart Pact: Great for scenery, especially if you like Morrowind.
- Aldmeri Dominion: Beautiful forests, political storylines, and a focus on elven equality.
- Daggerfall Covenant: Human-centric, focused on restoring the empire, a nice change of pace.
- Race Matters: Dark Elves are great for Stamina DPS, but Khajiit, Orcs, and even High Elves can be good too.
- Solo Play: Magicka Sorcerers are strong and easy for solo content.
If you’re thinking about jumping into Elder Scrolls Online, my advice? Just pick a faction that sounds cool to you and go for it. You can always make alts later to try out the others! It’s all about the adventure, right?
