Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my Charizard in Pokemon Go for a while now, trying to figure out the best way to use him in battles. It’s been a journey, let me tell you. I started out just throwing him into any battle, not really thinking about the moveset. Big mistake. I got my butt kicked more times than I can count.
Then, I started digging around, trying to learn what makes this fiery beast tick. I found out that there’s a whole science to this Pokemon stuff, with DPS and TDO and all that. It felt like learning a new language.

First off, I experimented with different fast moves. I tried Fire Spin, and I tried Air Slash. I even dabbled with some others. My takeaway? Fire Spin, hands down, feels the best. It just hits harder and charges up those powerful charged moves way faster. I found this to be true after using these moves in dozens of raids and gym battles. Air Slash had its moments, especially when going up against fighting-type Pokemon. But overall, Fire Spin was the workhorse I needed.
Now, the charged moves, that’s where things got really interesting. I learned that Charizard has a signature move called Blast Burn. I was lucky enough to get it during a special event. And boy, does it live up to its name. It totally destroys! When I first used Blast Burn, I was stunned. This move was very powerful. I used this move in many battles, and it always seemed to one-shot the competition. I’ve used it against countless Pokemon, and it just melts them. It is really so cool!
But I didn’t stop there. I also played around with Dragon Claw. It is a solid move. It’s super handy for taking down those pesky dragon types. I remember one time, I was up against a Dragonite, and my Charizard, with a well-timed Dragon Claw, totally turned the tables. My Dragon Claw was not super effective against it, but I did enough damage to take it out. I had a friend who was using Outrage, but I never liked that move because it locks you in for too long.
Then there’s Flare Blitz which was pretty good, but I ultimately preferred the others. I tried out Dragon Dance to boost Charizard’s attack and speed. It worked out pretty well, and I won some battles, but not always.
After all this trial and error, all these battles, and all this tinkering, here’s what I settled on: Fire Spin as the fast move, with Blast Burn and Dragon Claw as the charged moves. I found this combo to be the most versatile and powerful, at least for how I like to play. It lets me dish out tons of fire damage, while also having a solid option against dragons.
I’ve used this setup in Ultra League, and my Charizard has been a total beast. I do not really like the Great League or the Master League. Sure, he’s got weaknesses, but with this moveset, I’ve been able to take down so many opponents. It’s been a blast! No pun intended. Ha ha! You know, it is not just about winning though. I really enjoy the strategy involved.
Anyway, that’s my Charizard story. It’s been a fun ride, figuring out how to make him the best he can be. Hope this helps some of you out there who are also trying to master your Charizard. It took a lot of work, but I am happy with the results. Keep on training, and keep those battles spicy!
