Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into Cyberpunk 2077 lately, and man, the choices you gotta make in that game are wild. I found myself stuck on this one decision that’s been bugging me: should I betray Dex?
For those who haven’t played, Dexter DeShawn, or Dex, is this big-shot fixer in Night City. He’s the guy who sets you up with a major heist early in the game. Sounds cool, right? But here’s where it gets messy.

The Setup
- I got this gig from Dex. It’s a high-stakes job, stealing a fancy biochip from this mega-corporation.
- Met up with my partner, Jackie, and we’re all pumped up. We’re thinking this is our ticket to the big leagues.
- During the planning, met this lady, Evelyn Parker. She’s the one who initially pitched the heist to Dex. But she’s got her own angle, suggesting we cut Dex out and deal directly with her buyer.
The Dilemma
So, here I am, thinking, “Should I stick with Dex, who, despite being a bit shady, seems like the established, safer option? Or should I take a chance with Evelyn, who’s promising a bigger cut but is totally unknown territory?”
The Heist Goes Down
- Regardless of what I decided, the heist turned into a total mess. It’s like, everything that could go wrong, did.
- Jackie and I barely made it out alive. And guess what? We didn’t even get paid!
Dex’s Betrayal
And then, the kicker. Dex, the guy I was debating whether or not to betray, stabbed me in the back! Yeah, he just up and decided to eliminate me, probably to tie up loose ends and keep all the profits. Talk about a plot twist.
Aftermath
- I found out later that Dex didn’t even survive much longer himself. Ironic, isn’t it?
- So, all that agonizing over whether to betray him or not, and it didn’t even matter in the end. The game just railroads you into this outcome.
What I Learned
Honestly, the whole experience taught me that sometimes, in games and maybe in life, you think your choices matter a lot, but they don’t. It’s all part of the story the developers wanted to tell. My advice? Don’t sweat it too much. Just enjoy the ride, even if it’s a bumpy one.
It’s a bit frustrating, but also kind of a relief. No need to replay the whole thing just to see a different outcome with Dex. But man, Cyberpunk 2077 sure knows how to mess with your head!
