Alright, folks, let’s talk about my recent journey diving deep into Madden 23. I’ve been trying to figure out the best offensive scheme, and boy, has it been a ride. So, I started off just like everyone else, experimenting with different playbooks, formations, and all that jazz. I spent hours in practice mode, trying to see what clicked and what didn’t.
Initially, I was all over the place. I tried a bunch of different schemes, you know, the usual suspects. But nothing really stood out. Then, I stumbled upon this “Vertical Zone Run” thing. Sounds fancy, right? Well, it turns out it’s pretty darn effective. I started digging into it, and the more I played, the more I realized this was the real deal.

The key is in the archetypes, at least from what I’ve seen. The Vertical Zone Run just seems to fit better with the kind of players I like to use. It’s all about those deep passes and stretching the field, which is my jam. I love seeing my receivers burning down the sidelines. And it wasn’t just me, when I watched some tips videos on the internet, I found someone called Eric was talking about the best offense, and it was similar to mine!
I started messing around with the Kansas City Chiefs playbook because it has this West Coast Spread thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer. Their playbook is just loaded with plays that fit this scheme perfectly. I mean, it’s no surprise, considering the kind of talent they have, especially with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in the 99 Club.
My Experiment
Here’s what I did:
- Formation: I found that formations like Gun Bunch, Gun Trips TE, and Gun Y Off Trips Pats were my go-tos. That Gun Y Off Trips Pats, or “u-trips” as some call it, is only in the Patriots playbook as far as I know, and it’s a beast.
- Running Game: I always try to sneak in a run on the first play of each drive, especially when the defense is fresh. Keeps ’em guessing. And quick base runs in those Gun Trips TE formations? Chef’s kiss.
- Passing Game: Play actions and screens are my bread and butter. I love setting up the run and then hitting them with a deep pass when they least expect it. If I have a quarterback with a strong arm, it’s like taking candy from a baby.
So, after hours of grinding, tweaking, and a whole lot of trial and error, I finally felt like I had something special. This Vertical Zone Run scheme, combined with the right playbook, just felt right. It’s like everything clicked into place. I was shredding defenses, scoring points, and most importantly, having fun.
Now, I’m not saying this is the end-all-be-all. Madden is a complex game, and what works for me might not work for everyone. But if you’re struggling to find an offensive scheme that fits your style, I highly recommend giving this a shot. It might just be the spark you need to take your game to the next level.
And hey, don’t just take my word for it. Get out there, experiment, and find what works best for you. That’s what makes Madden so great – there’s always something new to discover. Happy gaming, everyone!
