Today I was playing Pokemon Go and started thinking, “Which one should I evolve my Slowpoke into?” I mean, you’ve got Slowbro and Slowking, right? Both look pretty cool, but what’s the deal with them in battles? So I started digging around, trying to figure out which one was better for me.
First, I wanted to figure out how to get these guys. It turns out, for Slowbro, all you gotta do is feed your Slowpoke 50 candies. But for Slowking, it’s a bit more complicated. You need a King’s Rock, a linking cable and 80 candies. That’s a lot more work!

Then I started looking into how they perform in battles. I read that Slowbro is a beast when it comes to defense. People online were saying it’s like a tank – it can take a lot of hits. So I tried using Slowbro in a few raids, and man, they weren’t kidding. This thing can really soak up damage.
- Slowbro: Super defensive, can take physical hits like a champ.
- Slowking: More about special attacks, deals more damage from afar.
But then there’s Slowking. From what I gathered, it’s more about dishing out the damage, especially with special attacks. I experimented with Slowking in some gym battles, and yeah, it hits hard. If you can keep it away from direct physical attacks, it really shines.
So, here’s what I’ve experienced. If you want a Pokemon that can last a long time in battle, taking hits and just keep going, Slowbro is your guy. But if you want a Pokemon that can deal a lot of special attack damage, and you’re good at dodging, then Slowking is the way to go. I tried both in different situations – Slowbro in raids and Slowking in gym battles – and they both did great in their own ways.
My final thoughts
After all this, I realized it really comes down to how you like to play. I personally prefer a more defensive style, so I’m leaning towards Slowbro. But I can totally see why someone who likes to go all out on offense would pick Slowking. Both are great, just depends on your style!
