Okay, so, today I jumped into the new League of Legends split. I’ve been hearing about all these changes, and honestly, I was kind of hyped but also a little nervous. I mean, a new split always means shaking things up, right?
First thing I did was check out the date. Turns out, Split 2 kicked off on May 15th with patch 14.10. Perfect timing! I logged in right after the update finished downloading.

The game interface looked pretty much the same, but I knew under the hood, things were different. I heard they tweaked Champion Mastery. No more easy chests from getting S ranks. Now it’s all about consistent performance, which I think is way more challenging and fun. I decided to take a look at my champion pool and see how those changes impact my strategy.
- Read about the stat efficiency changes on items.
- Played a couple of normal games to get a feel for the new pace.
- Noticed combat is a bit slower, which is a good change.
Then I dug into the ranked changes. This year they’re doing three splits, which is new. I marked my calendar for the end of Split 2 – September 24th. Gotta make sure I hit my goals before then! And knowing that Split 3 starts just 12 hours after Split 2 ends, means there is no time to waste. I immediately started grinding some ranked games right away. I queued up solo, took a deep breath, and dove in. The first few matches were intense. Everyone was trying out new things, and the meta felt completely fresh. I actually love this part – figuring out what works and what doesn’t.

They nerfed a bunch of items, like 5-15% stat efficiency reduction across the board. At first, I was like, “What?” But after playing, I get it. It slows down the game a bit, makes it less about snowballing, and more about consistent plays. Champions feel more impactful now, which is awesome.
I spent the whole day playing, experimenting, and just soaking it all in. By the end, I was exhausted but super excited. This split feels like a whole new game. I ended my session by planning out my climb strategy for the next few weeks.
Oh, and I also made a note that Season 14 ends on January 9, 2025. That’s the big deadline for the whole year, including Split 3. It’s a long way off, but it’s good to keep in mind. I don’t want to be caught off guard.
Overall, day one of the new split was a blast. Lots of changes, lots of learning, and lots of fun. Can’t wait to see what the rest of this split has in store!
