Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this whole “MLB The Show” thing, and I figured I’d share my experience with redeeming codes, ’cause it was a bit of a journey, to say the least.
First off, I got the game. I pre-ordered a physical copy from the store, so I knew the code should be somewhere, but finding it was another issue. Turns out, the pre-order code was right there on my receipt. I found my special edition code inside the game case. I wish they made it clearer.

So, I had this code, right? What to do next? I booted up the game, went straight to the main menu. Found a “Shop” section, and bam, there was a “Redeem Code” option. I punched in my code from the receipt, thinking I was all set.
- First, find your code.
- Second, boot up your game to main menu.
- Third, click “Shop” and find “Redeem Code”.
But it’s never that easy, is it? This game, it loves to make you jump through hoops. It turns out there are these things called “vouchers” in the game. I had to go into this mode called “Diamond Dynasty.” I clicked on the “Collect” tab, then “Exchanges,” and finally, I saw the option for “voucher exchange.” Apparently, I had to exchange my code for a voucher.
Here’s the kicker:
I had to play some games, earn these vouchers, and then exchange them. It felt like a roundabout way of doing things, but I went along with it. Played a bunch of games, earned some vouchers, and did the exchange.
The game makes it seem like a big deal, you know? “Congratulations! You’ve successfully redeemed your vouchers!” Like I just climbed Mount Everest or something. I thought I was done, but no, there’s more.
Then there was this other code, something about a Game ID and sending verification codes to my in-game mailbox. Man, it was confusing. I entered the code and my account’s Game ID. I clicked the “Send” button, then I received a verification code in my mailbox. I entered that code and clicked “Redeem”. I finally received the gifts in my in-game mailbox.
This is important: you gotta have your Game ID, send a code, get another code, and then finally, you can redeem it. And for what? Some digital items in a game. I mean, it’s cool and all, but was it worth the hassle? I’m still not sure.
Anyway, that’s my story about redeeming codes in MLB The Show. If you’re going through the same thing, I hope this helps. Just be prepared for a bit of a runaround. It’s not rocket science, but it sure feels like it sometimes.
