Okay, so, I wanted to gift some COD points to my buddy in Modern Warfare 2. I thought it would be a nice surprise, you know? So I jumped into the game, ready to make it happen. First, I looked around the in-game store. I looked through all of the options, but I did not see any button to send those points to a friend.
Then, I fired up Google, and did a quick search. It looks like you can’t directly gift COD points to another player. Bummer, right?

But, I found some guys online saying you can gift bundles. Some of these bundles include COD points and are bought with real money. Interesting. One guy mentioned that you could do this through the mobile companion app. I haven’t tried that, so it might be worth checking out.
Also, I saw that you can’t transfer COD points between accounts. But, you can gift COD points on the “newly launched web store”. I don’t know much about that one, but it is another option.
- Can’t gift Battle Pass: I also learned that you can’t gift a Battle Pass in MW2. That’s another feature I was hoping for, but it is not available right now.
- Points carry over: One good thing is that the COD points will carry over to the next game. So if they add a gifting system later, maybe I will be able to send those points to my friend then.
I tried gifting MW2 to someone, but I got an “unexpected error” message. I’m not sure if anyone else has had this issue. Maybe it’s a temporary thing.
I saw some people talking about using a BattleNet Balance gift card as a workaround. That sounds like it could work, but it means my friend would have to redeem the card and buy the points themselves.
My conclusion
So, after all this, it seems like gifting COD points directly in MW2 isn’t possible right now. But there are some workarounds like gifting bundles or maybe using that web store. I will have to look into those more. It’s a bit of a letdown, but I’ll figure something out. I’m still determined to surprise my buddy with some COD points one way or another!
