Okay, folks, let’s talk about this Kalu’ak Whalebone Glider thing. I saw a lot of people talking about it online, saying it’s cool and all, so I decided to give it a shot.
First off, I got this mount. To get it I purchased the Northrend Epic Upgrade. It was pretty straightforward – just a few clicks and boom, it was added to my collection.
Now, I heard some folks saying they couldn’t use it in Dalaran. And yeah, when I first tried to summon it there, I got this error message saying “You can’t use that here.” It was acting like it was just a flying mount, which was a bummer. I mean, we all know flying mounts don’t work inside Dalaran, but this one’s supposed to be a hybrid, right?
So I did what any reasonable person would do – I went around trying to figure out what was going on. I hopped into some battlegrounds, and guess what? The glider worked just fine there. It’s a ground mount in those areas, so no problems at all. Easy peasy.
Trying it Out
But Dalaran was still a no-go. I saw some people online saying it’s probably a bug or something the developers overlooked. Makes sense, right? I mean, why have a hybrid mount if it can’t switch modes properly?
- Tried it in Dalaran: Got the “You can’t use that here” error.
- Tried it in battlegrounds: Worked perfectly as a ground mount.
I even saw some posts from like, way back in November 2022, talking about the same issue. Seems like it’s been around for a while. Some folks mentioned it being a “hybrid mount” and how it should work in Dalaran. I totally agree! That’s kind of the whole point, isn’t it?
Now, after a patch, I can’t even dismount from the thing. Seriously? What’s up with that? I saw some other people were having this dismount problem too, starting in July 2024, It’s really annoying, and I’m not the only one experiencing this. There are even posts about it on the forums, so it’s definitely a real issue.
Someone said it was an “easy win” to get this mount. And yeah, it was easy to get, but it’s turning out to be a bit of a headache. Some folks are saying it looks cool, and I agree – it does look pretty sweet. But looks aren’t everything, right?
So, there you have it. The Kalu’ak Whalebone Glider is a cool-looking mount, but it’s got some issues. It works fine in some places but not in others, and the whole Dalaran thing is a real head-scratcher. Plus, now I can’t even get off the darn thing after that latest patch. Hopefully, the developers will sort it out soon. Until then, I might just stick to my other mounts in Dalaran.
Overall it is a good mount. I can use it everywhere except Dalaran. And after the latest patch, I can’t even dismount it. That is really a big problem. I think I will not use it anymore until the bug fixed.
