Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this card thing, just for fun, you know? I decided to do something simple – black and white cards. Sounds easy, right? Well, let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey.
First off, I gathered all my stuff. I got some card stock, white and black, naturally. Then I grabbed my scissors, some glue, and a few different pens. I wanted to see what would look best, so I had some white gel pens, black markers, and even some silver ones for a little flair.

I started by cutting the card stock. I went for a standard size, nothing fancy. Folded them in half, you know, the usual card style. Then came the tricky part – deciding on the design. I doodled a bit on some scrap paper, trying out different ideas. I thought about just doing stripes, but that seemed a bit boring.
- Attempt 1: White card, black stripes. Looked okay, but meh.
- Attempt 2: Black card, white stripes. Also meh.
- Attempt 3: Half white, half black. Still meh.
Then, it hit me. I could do a pop-up element! I always liked those as a kid. I remembered seeing somewhere how to make one, so I gave it a shot. I took a white card and cut out a simple shape – a heart. I made sure to leave the bottom part connected so it would actually pop up. After gluing it to the inside of the black card and adding a white outline, it looked pretty neat. Then, it came to me, I could just do the reverse for the other card. So, I cut out a heart from the black card, glued it to the inside of the white card, and added a black outline. Perfect!
I also experimented with writing messages on the cards. The white gel pen on the black card looked super cool, and the black marker on the white card was classic and clean. The silver pen didn’t really work out, but hey, it was worth a try.
Final Touches
In the end, I was pretty happy with how they turned out. They were simple, but the pop-up element gave them a little something extra. It was a fun little project, and I learned a few things along the way. I might try some more complex designs next time, but for now, I’m calling these black and white cards a win!
