Okay, so I’ve been having a blast with NBA 2K24 since it dropped on September 8th. Got it for my PS5, and man, it’s been a wild ride. But like any game, it’s got its quirks, and that’s where these update patches come in.
I heard that the new patch was dropping today, particularly for PS4, XB1, and NSW. I was pumped! I mean, who doesn’t love some good ol’ game improvements? But I was also kinda curious ’cause sometimes these updates can be a bit of a mixed bag.
First thing I did was fire up my PS5 and check for the update. I have got a pretty decent internet connection, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. But you know how it is, sometimes these updates can take forever, especially if everyone’s trying to download at the same time.
Thankfully, the download went pretty smoothly. No hiccups there, which was a relief. I’ve had experiences in the past where updates would just stall or fail halfway through, and it’s a real pain to troubleshoot. I think having a solid internet connection definitely helps. Plus, it’s possible the 2K servers weren’t overloaded, which is always a plus.
Once the update was installed, I dove right into the game. The word on the street was that this update was laying the groundwork for Season 4, which kicks off on January 12th. That’s some exciting stuff! I’m always keen to see what new content they’re gonna throw our way.
I noticed they also mentioned something about updating some of the current-day uniforms. Apparently, those changes will show up after the next roster update, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for that. It’s those little details that really add to the immersion, you know?
But here’s the thing, while I was excited about Season 2 preparation launching on October 18th, I was having some serious issues. Every time I tried to get into a game, it would just hang. I mean, I waited, and waited, and waited… nothing. I tried restarting the game, even my console a couple of times, but no dice. And my internet is stable, so I know the issue was not from my end.
I’m thinking maybe the servers were getting hammered with everyone trying to play after the update. Or perhaps there was some kind of server-side issue that was messing things up. Could be congestion, interruptions, or shutdowns on the NBA 2K24 servers, whatever. It happens, especially with these big online games, even though I have already updated it successfully.
In the end, it’s a waiting game, I guess.
