I was just browsing through my game library the other day, looking for something to kill some time. That’s when I noticed that NBA 2K24 had a new update, version 1.3 or something. Now, I’m not a hardcore gamer or anything, but I do enjoy a good basketball game every now and then, so I thought, “Why not?” I fired up the game to check it out.
The first thing I did was to make sure my game data was all good. You know how sometimes updates can mess things up, right? So, I went into the game’s storage settings on my PS5, just to be safe. Everything looked fine, no corrupted files or anything like that, which was a relief.

After making sure everything was in order, I started playing. I figured I’d jump into MyCAREER mode first since I heard there were some changes there. You see, I’m more of a casual player, so the idea of progressing through a career, building up my player, and all that jazz appeals to me. Plus, with this shared progression thing, I can bounce between MyCAREER and MyTEAM and still earn stuff, which is pretty neat.
So, I got into MyCAREER, messed around with the new quest updates. They seemed alright, nothing too crazy. Then I thought, let’s see what MyTEAM is all about. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of building your dream team, picking players from different eras, you know? I mean, who wouldn’t want to see how LeBron would fare against, say, Jordan or Magic?
Speaking of eras, I also poked around the MyNBA mode. The game lets you play through different eras, which is pretty cool. They even added a new “LeBron Era” this time around. It’s kind of fun to experiment with different lineups and see what could have been. Like, imagine if you could put together a team with players from different decades. It’s a fun little “what if” scenario.
As I played, I noticed some of the player ratings had been updated. Guys like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Davis, and Domantas Sabonis got a little bump, which is cool to see. It’s like the game is trying to keep up with what’s happening in the real NBA, right?
Now, I did hear some grumbling online about the update. Apparently, not everyone is thrilled with the changes. I guess some folks are never happy, huh? But for me, a casual player, it’s all good. I’m just happy to have a fun basketball game to play whenever I want.
Oh, and I also heard that this Season 9 is going to be the last one for 2K24 since 2K25 is coming out in September. So, they’re throwing in a bunch of free stuff for players, which is always nice. I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff, right? Anyway, I’m just going to enjoy 2K24 while it lasts. We’ll see what 2K25 brings to the table when it comes out.
So, there you have it, my little adventure with the NBA 2K24 update. Nothing too exciting, but it was a fun way to spend a few hours. It just goes to show that even a small update can bring a little bit of joy to a casual gamer like me.
