Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with NBA 2K lately, specifically trying to figure out the whole attributes thing. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole, but I’ve been keeping track of what I’ve learned, and I thought I’d share my notes.
First off, I started by just jumping into the game and playing around with a new MyPlayer. I didn’t really know what I was doing, just picking attributes that sounded cool. Big mistake. I ended up with a player who was okay at a bunch of things but not really great at anything. So, I scrapped that and started doing some research.

I dug around online, looking for guides and stuff. There’s a ton of information out there. I even found some color-coded breakdowns of what each attribute does, which was kind of helpful. I learned that they’re grouped into categories like Inside Scoring and Outside Scoring.
I also noticed that some people were saying you don’t need to max out everything. Like, for three-pointers, a lot of folks were saying 70 to 85 is good enough, especially if you know what you’re doing. That was a relief because it means you can spread your points around a bit more.
- Tried different combinations of attributes.
- Focused on building a player good at one or two specific things rather than trying to be a jack-of-all-trades.
- Paid attention to how different attributes felt in-game.
I started experimenting with different builds. It was a lot of trial and error. I’d create a player, play a few games, and then tweak things based on how it felt. I learned it is better than maxing out every stat. Slowly but surely, I started to get a feel for which attributes were most important for the way I like to play.
Oh, and I found out that VCs, those virtual coins, are the only way to upgrade your attributes. So, I’ve been grinding those out by doing quests and stuff. It’s a bit of a pain, but it’s worth it to see your player get better.
There’s also this thing about “Agility.” I found out that “Acceleration” is now called “Agility”, and you earn Stamina through these Gatorade Gym workouts. Seems like they changed things up a bit. And don’t forget about the Rhythm Shooting and Signature Go-To Shots. They’re also the key parts of dominating the court.
My Realization
I realized that it is not just about picking the highest numbers. It’s about finding the right balance for your playstyle. And it takes time. You gotta experiment, pay attention to how things feel, and be willing to start over if something isn’t working. I kept these detailed tips in mind every time.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with the NBA 2K attributes. It’s a work in progress, but I’m definitely learning a lot. I still haven’t found the “perfect” build, but I’m getting closer. Hopefully, my little journey here can help some of you out there who are also trying to wrap your head around this stuff. It’s a grind, but it’s kind of fun once you start to figure things out!
