So, I’ve been glued to Mortal Kombat 11 lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I was trying to get a handle on all those moves, you know, the special ones, the combos, the whole shebang.
First things first, I hit up the in-game menu. I paused the game mid-fight, which, let me tell you, is easier said than done when you’re getting pummeled. There it was, clear as day: the Move List option. I clicked on that, and bam! A whole list of moves for my character popped up. Every punch, kick, and special move, right there at my fingertips.

But that was just the beginning. I was messing around and figured out that some moves can be amplified by using the right bumper. I found that some special moves have an enhanced version that deals more damage or has additional effects. Costs a bit of that meter at the bottom of the screen, the Offensive Gauge, so you gotta use it wisely.
- Choose Your Fighter: I spent some time picking different characters. Every fighter has their own unique set of moves. I chose my fighter and dove into their move list.
- Practice Makes Perfect: I hopped into the practice mode, which is a lifesaver, by the way. I started with the basic attacks, getting a feel for the timing and the range. Then I moved on to the special moves. Some were easy to pull off, others, not so much.
- Combos Galore: This is where it got tricky. I started combining basic attacks with special moves, trying to string together some combos. It took a while, and I mean a while, but I finally started landing some decent combos. It felt so satisfying to see those numbers go up!
- Fatal Blows and Crushing Blows: These are the big ones, the game-changers. I learned that Fatal Blows can only be used when your health is super low, like a last resort. Crushing Blows, on the other hand, happen when you meet certain conditions during a fight. And let me tell you, they look brutal!
I also found out you can pin moves to the screen, which is super helpful. Just by pressing Y or triangle on a move in the list, it stays at the top of the screen while you fight. That was really a game-changer when I was trying to learn new combos and finishers during actual combat.
It’s been a grind, no doubt. Lots of button mashing, lots of getting my butt kicked. But slowly but surely, I’ve been getting better. Pulling off those complex moves, landing those devastating combos, it’s all starting to come together. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of finally mastering a character’s move list and dominating in a match. It’s what keeps me coming back for more, even after all those frustrating losses.
I just wanted to share this because, man, it’s been an experience. And if you’re out there struggling with the move lists, just know that it takes time. Keep practicing, keep experimenting, and you’ll get there. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can.
