Okay, so, I’ve been grinding like crazy in Fortnite Chapter 5, trying to get those sweet, sweet rare chests. And let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. At first, I had no idea where to even look. I mean, they’re called “rare” for a reason, right?
I started by just dropping into random spots, places like Greasy Grove, just hoping for the best. Sometimes I’d find one, but most of the time, I’d come up empty-handed. This kind of worked, but it was still hit or miss. I remember one time I followed this guy all the way across the map, only to watch him open the chest right in front of me. Then, I got this idea that maybe, just maybe, they pop up more in certain places. So, I spent a bunch of games just exploring, going to every named location on the map, opening every chest I could find. I even made a little map in my notebook, marking down where I found rare chests and where I didn’t. I started noticing a few spots where they seemed to show up more often, especially The Underworld POI in this season, which became my go-to. But even then, it wasn’t a sure thing. It’s all random, you know?
After like, a week of doing this, I finally started to get the hang of it. I could feel myself getting better at predicting where the rare chests might be, but they still spawn randomly, there are no POIs that guarantee the chance to open them. I wouldn’t say I’m a pro or anything, but I definitely don’t suck as much as I used to. And I’ve gotten some pretty cool loot out of it, like the Doctor Doom skin, so that’s a plus. So yeah, that’s my story of hunting for rare chests in Fortnite. It’s a pain, but it’s worth it in the end… sometimes.

- Hit up named locations: Places like The Underworld POI seem to have a higher chance, but it’s still random.
- Pay attention to other players: But don’t follow them around like a creep. I learned that the hard way.
- Explore everywhere: It is really everywhere. The more you explore, the better you’ll get at finding these chests.
- Be patient: Seriously, you’re gonna need it. I spent hours and still felt like I found nothing sometimes.
