Yo, what’s up, guys! It’s your boy back at it again. Today, I’ve got a little story for you about my experience with the latest NBA 2K24 update. It came out, I think, May 17th, or something like that.
I grabbed my controller, fired up the PS5, and saw the update notification. I started the downloading, it was a pretty big file. You know how it is, these games keep getting bigger and bigger.

Once the download was done, I launched the game, eager to see what changed. The first thing I noticed was the ProPLAY feature. They said it’s some kind of new tech that brings real NBA footage into the game. Sounds cool, right? I jumped into a quick game to check it out.
- Gameplay Changes
- Visuals
- Season 7
The movements did seem a bit smoother, maybe more realistic. I noticed that player animations, especially when they drove to the basket or pulled up for a jumper, were slightly different.
Honestly, the game already looked pretty amazing, but with this update, it is even more realistic. I could not tell the huge difference, but I could feel it is more real.
The new season dropped, too. New stuff for MyCAREER and MyTEAM. I am not really into MyTEAM, but for MyCAREER, it’s always fun to grind for new rewards, get those player upgrades, you know?
I played a few games in The City, and man, it was smooth. They promised they fixed some bugs, and it looks like they did. It felt a lot less clunky than before. Good job, 2K!
But then I ran into something a bit annoying. I still had some VC (that’s the in-game currency) left over from the last version. I thought maybe, just maybe, I could transfer it over to this update, since I technically own both versions now. Nope! Turns out, you can’t transfer VC between different NBA 2K games. Come on, 2K, why you gotta do us like that?
My Final Thoughts
Overall, this 2K24 update is pretty solid. The ProPLAY thing is cool, even though I can’t really explain how it works. The gameplay is smoother, especially in The City. But the VC thing? That’s a bummer. I will figure out a way to spend them. Anyway, that’s my two cents on the latest NBA 2K24 update. Let me know what you guys think!
