Okay, so, I’ve been playing a ton of Animal Crossing: New Horizons lately. It’s like, my go-to chill-out game, you know? Anyway, I’ve gotten really into collecting all the art for the museum. Blathers, that owl, he’s a bit of a snob, but I gotta admit, he knows his stuff.
So, there’s this one piece I’ve been after, the rock-head statue. It’s based on those giant Olmec heads, which are super cool. I saw it in books when I was a kid and always imagined myself as a great explorer discovering ancient mysteries, and now I can almost live that dream in the game.

I read somewhere that you can get it from Redd, that shady fox who shows up on his boat. He’s always trying to sell fakes, the little scammer. But I did some digging online, and found out that there’s a way to tell if the rock-head statue is real or not.
First, I waited. You know, the usual. Just kept playing the game, donating fish and bugs, shaking trees, talking to my villagers. Then one day, Isabelle announced that a “suspicious” boat was docked at the secret beach. My heart skipped a beat! This was it. I grabbed my Bells and ran over there.
I went inside Redd’s boat, and there it was! The rock-head statue. But, I had to be careful. I remembered reading that the fake one has a slight smile. So I zoomed in on the statue’s face, using the in-game camera controls. Those were tricky to adjust to the perfect angle. I compared it to the pictures I found online on my phone. It looked pretty neutral to me, no smile.
- The real one has a straight face.
- The fake has a small smile.
I was pretty sure it was the real deal. I mean, Redd tried to tell me some story about how rare and special it was, but I wasn’t falling for it. I knew the price was 4,980 Bells, so I bought it. I got the statue for 4980 bells! I’ve seen it listed as 4 online so that seemed correct.
The next day, it arrived in the mail. I was so excited! I rushed to the museum and donated it to Blathers. He confirmed it was real! He went on and on about the Olmec civilization, but I was just happy to have another piece for my collection. That rock-head statue looks awesome in the museum, right next to the other ancient artifacts. It’s like a little piece of history, right there on my island. It is not always genuine, so I am lucky.
So yeah, that’s how I got the rock-head statue in Animal Crossing. It took some patience, and a little bit of detective work, but it was totally worth it. Now, onto the next piece! I heard there is a glowing painting that might be real. Wish me luck!
