Okay, so, I’ve been playing around with Gallade in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and I gotta say, this Pokemon is a beast if you set it up right. I wanted to share what I’ve been doing with my Gallade and how I got it to be such a powerhouse.
First off, I started by catching a male Ralts. Why male? Because only male Kirlia can evolve into Gallade, and you need that Dawn Stone to do it. So, I spent some time running around, looking for that specific Ralts.

Once I had my male Kirlia, I leveled it up, making sure it got strong. It was a bit of a grind, but totally worth it. Finally, I got my hands on a Dawn Stone, and boom, I had my Gallade!
Now, for the fun part – making Gallade a fighting machine. I focused on its Attack and Speed stats when I was EV training. You do this by battling certain Pokemon that give out specific EVs, kind of like building up experience points but for specific stats. It’s a bit tedious, but man, does it make a difference. I also tossed in a few EVs into Special Defense to make it a little less squishy.
Choosing the right moves was the next big thing. Here’s what I ended up with:
- Swords Dance: This is a must-have. It jacks up Gallade’s Attack stat like crazy, making it hit like a truck. I usually start battles with this.
- Close Combat: This is a super powerful Fighting-type move. After a Swords Dance or two, this thing can one-shot a lot of Pokemon. I learned that Gallade can learn this at level 52, which is pretty cool.
- Leaf Blade: This is for when I wanna hit Pokemon that are weak to Grass-type moves. It’s a good solid move to have in the back pocket. Got Gallade to learn it at level 43.
- Psychic: This is a solid Psychic-type move, and since Gallade is part Psychic-type, it gets a nice little damage boost from that. It’s great for taking down other Fighting-types. Level 34 for this one.
I did think about using Zen Headbutt instead of Psychic, but I found Psychic to be more consistent. Also, I played around with Night Slash and Ice Punch, but they didn’t feel as impactful as the other moves.
For the nature, I went with Jolly. This makes Gallade faster, which is super important in battles. I mean, what’s the point of hitting hard if you’re always going second, right? I did consider Adamant for more power, but speed seemed more crucial.
I also experimented a bit with Tera Raid Battles. Turns out, Gallade with the Sharpness ability is pretty killer in those. Sharpness boosts the power of slicing moves, which is neat.
So yeah, that’s my Gallade journey. It took some time and effort, but now I’ve got a Pokemon that can really hold its own in battles. If you’re thinking about using Gallade, I hope my experience gives you some ideas on how to build yours!
