Okay, so I’ve been grinding away at Vampire Survivors for a while now, and I gotta say, figuring out the best items is a huge part of the fun. So, I thought I’d share my experience building up a tier list of items based on my playtime, which honestly, has been a lot lately.
First off, I started by just playing the game – a lot. I tried out every item I could get my hands on, seeing how they felt in different runs, and with different characters. Some items, like the King Bible, and Garlic, felt like instant wins almost every time I picked them up. They just clear out enemies so efficiently, especially early in the game.

- Then, I started jotting down notes after each run. I’d write down which items I had, which ones seemed to make a big difference, and which ones felt kind of, well, useless. After about 10 hours, I noticed some patterns. Some items were consistently showing up in my successful runs, while others were always there when I got wrecked. I’d get the Clover pretty often in hopes of making other cats less angry at me and boy was I wrong. It didn’t help much at all.
- It was time to get a bit more organized. I made a simple list and started sorting items into different tiers. I called them stuff like “Godly,” “Great,” “Okay,” and “Trash.” It was pretty satisfying to see it all laid out like that, and it made it easier to visualize which items were truly top-tier.
- Now, I wanted to see what other players thought. I went through some online forums and communities, and I found some really interesting discussions about item tiers. People had some different opinions, especially about the mid-tier items, but there was a lot of agreement on the best and worst ones.
- Taking this feedback into account, I tweaked my list. I moved some items up, some down, and I even added a new tier in between called “Pretty Good,” because some items were definitely better than just “Okay,” but not quite “Great.”
- My current list is still evolving, but I feel pretty confident about the top tiers. Santa Water when upgraded feels amazing when it comes to clearing out enemies. And then there’s the Vandalier, which, in my opinion, is just the best item in the game on map one. It’s an absolute monster! And man, there was this one time I got the Laurel and it shielded me at just the right moment from a boss, that was epic!
Current Tier List Thoughts
I’m still playing and experimenting, but I think this tier list thing has really helped me understand the game better. It’s not just about knowing which items are good, but also about knowing which ones to prioritize, and which ones to avoid altogether. And it’s cool to see how my opinions line up with or differ from other players’. This one time, I managed to defeat The Reaper by just focusing on damage, dodging those red areas, and having a super strong build. It was intense! And, oh man, unlocking the Mask of the Red Death after that? What a rush!
I’ll probably keep updating my tier list as I go. But it has been a super helpful tool for my runs. And a fun community thing to boot!
