So I’ve been messing around with this game called Valorant lately, and there’s this robot dude named KAY/O. I saw some folks online saying he’s the worst character in the game, like, statistically speaking. Less than 45% win rate in most ranks, can you believe that? But here’s the thing, I don’t think he’s all bad, just needs some teamwork to really shine.
I started by playing a few matches, just trying to get a feel for him. At first, I was like, “what the heck is this?” because learning all the different characters’ abilities is a lot when you’re just starting out. I mean, there are many different roles in this game. It’s tough as a new player. And I was totally new to Valorant at that moment. But I decided to stick with KAY/O for a bit, just to see what the fuss was about.

One thing I noticed is that he’s kinda unpredictable, which can be good or bad. It’s like, you throw a flashbang, and sometimes it works like a charm, other times… not so much. It’s like, as his name suggests, he can totally knock someone out, but then again, he might just whiff it completely. I found myself getting caught off guard a few times because I wasn’t really sure what was going to happen.
- His main thing is this ability where he can suppress other players’ abilities. That’s pretty cool, right?
- But you gotta be strategic about it. I tried just using it whenever, and it didn’t really do much.
- Then I started paying more attention to what my teammates were doing and when the enemies were using their abilities.
I realized that if I timed it right, I could shut down some really powerful moves from the other team. Like, if they were about to use a big ultimate ability, I could just pop KAY/O’s suppression and bam, they’re useless. It felt pretty awesome when I pulled that off. It definitely takes some practice, though, and some good communication with your team. I learned that just popping the flashbang for teammates isn’t easy in random matches. It’s like, you really need to be on the same page, you know?
I also started experimenting with his other abilities, like his grenade thingy. I think it is a little bit hard to master. I tried tossing it into rooms where I thought enemies might be hiding, and sometimes I’d get a kill or two. Other times, I’d just waste it. It’s all about learning the maps and figuring out the best spots to use it, I guess. I found that the maps are designed perfectly for different types of agents, and that is why I think KAY/O is not that bad.
After playing a bunch of matches, I think I’m starting to get the hang of this guy. I don’t think he is the best agent or anything, but he’s definitely not the worst. He is actually fun to play once you figure him out. He’s just different, and you gotta play him a little differently than some of the other characters. If you’re willing to put in the time to learn his quirks and work with your team, he can be a real asset. So, is KAY/O good in Valorant? I’d say he’s got potential. You just gotta know how to unlock it.
My Verdict
He’s not for everyone, but he’s not trash tier like some people say. You can master him with some work. And he is the only robot character in this game, how cool is that? It makes me feel like I’m part of the future or something when I use him.
