Today, I tried to catch some mussels in “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.” It was quite a journey, so let me tell you how it went.
First, I put on my wetsuit. This is essential because you can’t dive without it. Once I was all geared up, I jumped into the ocean. The water felt nice, and I started swimming around, looking for those telltale bubbles.

The bubbles are the key. When you see bubbles rising from the seafloor, it means there’s a sea creature down there. So, I kept my eyes peeled for these bubbles. After a bit of swimming, I spotted some. I swam over to them and pressed the “Y” button to dive down.
When you dive, you see a shadow underwater. You have to swim towards it to catch the creature. Some shadows are fast and try to get away, but mussel shadows are pretty slow, small ones. I chased after one, and it wasn’t too hard to catch up. Once I was close enough, my character automatically grabbed it.
- Put on the wetsuit.
- Jumped into the ocean.
- Looked for bubbles.
- Swam to the bubbles.
- Pressed “Y” to dive.
- Chased the shadow.
- Caught the mussel.
Here’s a simple breakdown of what I did:
I repeated this process a few times. It took a while because sometimes you find other sea creatures instead of mussels. But I was patient, and eventually, I caught a bunch of them.
Mussels are not that hard to find, especially since they don’t move quickly. They are usually found among rocks and seaweed, but honestly, once you dive, you just look for those small, slow shadows.
It was a fun experience. Diving in the game is really relaxing, and finding mussels felt rewarding. If you’re playing “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” give it a try. It’s a nice way to spend some time in the game, and who knows, you might find it as enjoyable as I did!
This little adventure reminded me why I love this game. It’s the simple things, like catching mussels, that make it so much fun. Happy diving, everyone!
