Okay, so yesterday I wanted to figure out how to request a trade in MLB The Show 23. I hopped into the game, ready to switch things up in my Road to the Show career.
At first, I was a bit lost. I mean, I started with my current team, and everything was going alright, but I felt like it was time for a change. I remembered back in the older versions of the game, there used to be this neat little option where you could just tell your agent you’re not feeling it with your team anymore and want out. But in The Show 23, it wasn’t that obvious.

I dug around the menus and finally found the “My Ballplayer” section. Then I clicked on “Road to the Show.” My player’s career dashboard popped up, and I was looking for anything that said “trade request” or something similar. I found something called “Interactions” and thought, “This must be it.”
In the “Interactions” menu, there were options to talk to my agent, the GM, and some teammates. Thinking back to how it worked in previous games, I chose to chat with my agent. But here’s the kicker—my agent basically told me I didn’t have any leverage to ask for a trade. He was like, “You need to step up your game, kid.”
So, I realized I needed to improve my player’s stats. That meant playing more games, hitting those home runs, making those amazing catches, and just being an all-around better player. It took a while, grinding through games, focusing on every at-bat and every play in the field. It wasn’t easy, but I saw my stats slowly start to climb.
After a good chunk of games and some serious stat-boosting, I went back to my agent. This time, the conversation was different. He acknowledged my improvement, and we talked about my options. I finally expressed my desire to be traded, and he said he’d look into it.
A few games later, I got the news—I was being traded! It felt good to see all that hard work pay off. The new team was a fresh start, and I was ready to prove myself all over again.
But here’s a twist: I also found out that in Franchise mode, there’s a setting called “Force Trades.” If you turn that on, you can basically trade anyone at any time. It’s kind of a cheat code, but it’s there if you want to use it.
So, that’s my experience with requesting a trade in MLB The Show 23. It’s a bit of a grind, but it makes sense—you gotta earn your way to a new team. And if you’re not into that, there’s always the “Force Trades” option in Franchise mode.
