So, today I wanna talk about how to counter Lissandra. I’ve been messing around with a few strategies, and I think I’ve cracked the code, at least for my playstyle.
First off, I jumped into a bunch of games, trying different champs against her. It was a bit of a mess, to be honest. I got stomped a few times, not gonna lie. But hey, that’s how you learn, right?

My Experiments
- Defensive Decks: I started with some beefy, defensive decks. Think Aurelion Sol, Yasuo, stuff like that. And you know what? They worked pretty well. These decks can just soak up Lissandra’s nonsense and then outscale her.
- Ashe and Elder Dragon: I also gave Ashe and Elder Dragon a shot, and they performed decently. They have their own ways of dealing with Lissandra’s threats. Not as smooth as Asol or Yasuo, but still doable.
- Zhonya’s Hourglass: I even tried Zhonya’s Hourglass on Lissandra herself. It seemed kinda silly, but in some matchups, it actually helped. Like, against Pyke or Darius, who can really snowball with their ults, Zhonya’s bought me some crucial time. Didn’t try it against Jinx, though. I heard it’s not worth it.
My General Observations
From what I saw, Lissandra is a beast in those early to mid-game fights, especially before the 25-minute mark. Her win rate is pretty high there, like, 52% or something. But she starts to drop off later on. After 40 minutes, she was winning less than half her games in my tests. The sweet spot seems to be between 0 and 25 minutes where she gets the most wins.
I also checked some data, and it looks like my experience lines up. It was based on a small sample size, but it confirmed that those early minutes are where Lissandra really shines. Seems like she has the hardest time against Vel’Koz in the mid lane, but does really well against Azir, Smolder, and Irelia.
When I played as her, I could definitely feel the power in those early skirmishes. But as the game dragged on, it became harder to close things out. It felt like other champs just had more ways to deal with me in the late game.
Also, a weird trend, when I was looking at the 30-35 minute mark, her win rate took another dip. Not sure what’s up with that, but it’s something to keep in mind.
My Eureka Moment
Then it hit me. With Aurelion Sol, the key was to empty my hand as much as possible before dropping him. His cost reduction kinda negates Lissandra’s mana limitations. And if I could roll Living Legends? Game over. It didn’t matter if I was throwing cards away without getting full value. I just needed to survive until I could drop that game-ender.
So, that’s my take on countering Lissandra. Go defensive, try to outlast her early game, and if you’re playing Asol, empty that hand and pray for Living Legends. It’s not foolproof, but it’s been working for me. What about you guys? Got any other strategies to share? Let me know in the comments!
