Today, I want to share a little project I’ve been messing around with – trying to get my hands on an M4A1-S Knight skin in CS:GO. Yeah, I know, it’s just a game skin, but this one’s pretty slick with its black and silver design, and I really wanted to give it a go.
Getting Started
First off, I did some digging and found out this Knight skin is part of The Cobblestone Collection, which dropped way back on July 1, 2014. It is kind of old, which means it is not that easy to get one.

It seems like the only way to get it was by cracking open some specific cases like the Atlanta 2017 Cobblestone Souvenir Package or the Boston 2018 one. But here is the thing, these cases are not your everyday find. The price for it was a bit steep for a game skin, somewhere in the ballpark of $1,725 to $2. So, I thought I would try my luck with some old souvenir packages.
The Grind
I started by gathering any Cobblestone souvenir packages I could find. I already had a few from back in the day, and I managed to trade for a couple more with some online buddies. I was excited, but I knew the chances of landing the Knight skin were slim.
Each time I opened a package, it was a mix of excitement and a bit of anxiety. Most of the time, I ended up with skins that were okay but nothing special. I kept telling myself, “Just one more,” but that “one more” turned into quite a few. This process last for a few days, I did not play any other games during that time, and I was kind of addicted to it.
The Result
After opening a bunch of packages, I still hadn’t gotten the Knight skin. It was a bummer, no doubt. I won’t lie, I was pretty set on getting it, and the whole thing felt like a bit of a letdown.
Lessons Learned
- It’s All About Luck: I realized that getting specific skins from cases is really just a game of chance. You can increase your odds by targeting the right cases, but at the end of the day, it’s still a gamble.
- Set Limits: It’s easy to get carried away with opening cases. I had to remind myself to set limits and not go overboard. After all, it’s just a game, and there’s no point in breaking the bank for a virtual item. I wasted almost $200 opening the cases I got, and that money was just enough for me to buy a nice dinner with my wife.
- Enjoy the Process: Even though I didn’t get what I wanted, I did have some fun trading and opening cases. It’s a part of the game that I hadn’t really explored before. In the end, that is why we play games, right? Having fun.
So, that’s my story about trying to get the M4A1-S Knight skin. It didn’t quite go as planned, but I learned a few things along the way. Maybe I’ll try again someday, or maybe I’ll just appreciate the skins I already have. Either way, it’s all good. I will probably just save some money and buy the skin directly next time. It would be much easier.
