Hey everyone, so I’ve been hooked on Pokemon GO lately, and I really wanted to evolve some of my Pokemon. The thing is, I needed a Sun Stone to do it. I had no idea how to get one, so I did some digging and want to share what I found and how I finally got my hands on those stones.
Figuring Out How to Get Sun Stones
First off, I realized these Sun Stones aren’t just lying around on the ground. I couldn’t just walk around and stumble upon them. I learned that there are specific ways to get them in the game.

Spinning PokeStops
One way I tried was spinning those Photo Discs at PokeStops. It sounded simple enough. I went around to every PokeStop I could find, spinning them like crazy. I had to spin a ton of them because it’s totally random. Most of the time, I just got the usual stuff like Pokeballs and potions. But I kept at it because I heard that if you spin PokeStops for seven days straight, you might get a special item, which could be a Sun Stone.
Research Tasks
Another thing I did was focus on Research Tasks. These are like little missions the game gives you. Some of them are super easy, and others are a bit more challenging. I made sure to complete as many as I could each day, hoping one of them would reward me with a Sun Stone. It was kind of hit or miss, but I figured the more tasks I did, the better my chances.
The Waiting Game
Honestly, it felt like it took forever. I was spinning PokeStops every day and doing all these tasks, but the Sun Stones were super rare. I started to wonder if it was even worth it, but I really wanted to evolve my Cotteonee into a Whimsicott, so I kept going.
Finally Getting a Sun Stone!
Then, after what felt like ages, it finally happened! I spun a PokeStop, and boom, there it was – a Sun Stone! I was so stoked. I immediately used it to evolve my Cotteonee, and it turned into a Whimsicott. It was such a great feeling to finally see that evolution happen.
Keeping the Grind Going
After that, I kept up the same routine, spinning PokeStops and doing Research Tasks. I managed to get a few more Sun Stones over time. It’s definitely a grind, but it’s doable. You just have to be patient and keep at it.
My Tips for You
So, if you’re trying to get Sun Stones in Pokemon GO, here’s what I recommend:
- Spin PokeStops every day: Try to hit that seven-day streak for a better chance at special items.
- Complete Research Tasks: Do as many as you can, especially the ones that promise item rewards.
- Be patient: It might take a while, but don’t give up! Keep spinning and completing tasks, and eventually, you’ll get those Sun Stones.
That’s pretty much my journey to getting Sun Stones in Pokemon GO. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely rewarding. Good luck to everyone else trying to evolve their Pokemon, and I hope my experience helps you out!
