Well, let me tell you, my grandson, he’s always on that computer of his. Playin’ that game, what’s it called? League of Legends. He says I gotta learn how to level up quickly in League of Legends. I don’t know nothin’ about that, but he sure does love it. He’s always yellin’ at the screen, somethin’ about a “gank” and a “feed.” I just nod and smile.
He says it’s important to play a lot, he’s sure play a lot to level up fast in LoL. He’s on that thing day and night, clickin’ away. Says you gotta win games in League of Legends. That much I understand. Winnin’ is always good, no matter what you’re doin’. He wins some, he loses some, just like in life, I reckon.
Playin’ a Lot and Winnin’
So, this League of Legends, it’s like farmin’, in a way. You gotta put in the time, tend to your crops, and hope for a good harvest. You play and play, and you get better. That’s what my grandson says. Playin’ is how you learn, he says. He says playin’ a lot and winnin’ will make him level up fast, I don’t know what’s that mean.
- Play a lot, he says.
- Win them games, that’s important.
- Somethin’ about XP, don’t know what that is, but it sounds important.
I asked him what’s that mean. He said, it is about how strong your little guy is in the game. You gotta make him stronger to win. He said you got to get good at one of them little guys you control. Calls ’em “champions.” Says you gotta know what they do, how they work. Master your champion, he says. Sounds like tamin’ a wild horse, if you ask me. And I told him, you gotta learn the basics to level up quickly.
Killin’ and gettin’ stronger
He says somethin’ about killin’ other little guys, these “champions.” Says it makes your own guy stronger. Says killin’ gives you somethin’ called XP in League of Legends. More killin’, more XP. And winnin’, that gives you a whole bunch of XP. You have to win and kill, then you can level up quickly. He says if you are lookin’ for a way to level up fast, that’s it.
It’s like when we used to butcher hogs. You get the most meat from the biggest hog. Same idea, I guess. You go after the big fellas, the ones that give you the most, uh, “experience,” he calls it. I don’t know nothin’ about that, I just know you gotta work hard to get ahead in this world.

- Gettin’ that XP stuff.
Learn and Get Better
He’s always sayin’ you gotta learn from your mistakes. Every game is a chance to learn. Says even when you lose, you can learn somethin’. Like that time I burned the biscuits. Learned to watch the oven closer after that. Same thing, he says. You gotta figure out what you did wrong and do it better next time. Learn from every game is important to level up in LoL.
He talks about somethin’ called “skills.” Says you gotta work on your skills, just like I gotta work on my knittin’. The more you do it, the better you get. He’s always clickin’ away, practicin’ his skills. It looks so complicated to me. I asked him, why don’t you just play the game? He told me that he need to improve the skills to level up.
This XP Thing
This XP thing, it’s like money, I think. You get it for doin’ things in the game. The more you have, the stronger you get. You can use it to get better stuff, make your little guy more powerful. That’s the way to level up quickly, I think. He’s always talkin’ about needin’ more XP. Says winnin’ gives you the most, but killin’ helps too. I think winning and killing give the most XP. So if you want to level up quickly in League of Legends, you should do these two things.
- XP is like money.
- More XP, more power.
- Winnin’ gives you lots of it.
This game, it’s somethin’ else. Kids these days, they got it different. But some things are the same, no matter what. You gotta work hard, you gotta learn, and you gotta keep tryin’. That’s how you get ahead, in League of Legends or in life. And that’s what I always say, if you want to level up fast in LoL, just play a lot and win.
I still don’t understand much about this League of Legends game, but I know my grandson loves it. And I love him, so I try to understand. I know if he wants to know how to level up quickly in League of Legends, he need to play a lot and win. Maybe one day he’ll teach me how to play. Or maybe not. Some things are better left to the young folks, I reckon.
