Well, well, well, you wanna know where to find that there Magikarp in Pokemon Go, huh? That little floppy fish. I see lots of folks running around, looking at their phones, trying to catch them little Pokemon things. My grandkids, they’re always on about it. They say, “Gotta catch ’em all!” Sounds like a right load of nonsense to me, but, hey, it keeps ’em busy.
So, this Magikarp, it’s a water Pokemon, you see? Like a fish outta water, except when it’s in the water! Makes sense, right? You ain’t gonna find it in your cornfield, I tell ya that much. You gotta go where the water is. Think like a fish, they say.

Now, I heard from my grandson, the one who’s always glued to that phone, that these Magikarps, they like to hang around water biomes. What’s a biome, you ask? Well, it’s just a fancy word for a place with lots of water. Like a lake, or a river, or even that there ocean if you’re near one. We’re not close to the ocean round these parts, but that’s where you need to go. That’s where you can catch Magikarp.
- Lakes
- Rivers
- Oceans
- Ponds
- Maybe even that old well down the road, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
My grandkids, they tell me about these things called “PokeStops” and “Gyms“. I don’t rightly know what those are, but they seem to be important for catching these Pokemon. Something about spinning them, and getting items, and battling. It’s all a bit much for me, if I’m honest. But if you want to find Magikarp, you might want to go to one of them PokeStops.
They say that if the weather’s all rainy and wet, that’s when them Magikarps come out to play. Like they need more water! So if it’s pouring down, that might be your chance. Just don’t go gettin’ yourself soaked for some silly fish Pokemon. It is just a game after all, you can find Magikarp in rainy weather.
And get this, they got these things called “Lure Modules” and “Incense“. Sounds like witchcraft to me, but apparently, they attract Pokemon. So if you stick one of those on a PokeStop, especially when it’s raining, you might just get yourself a whole school of Magikarps. That’s what they say, anyway. I ain’t never tried it myself.
Now, I heard some folks talking about “Magikarp Nests“. Sounds like a bird’s nest, but for fish. Apparently, it’s a place where a whole bunch of Magikarps like to hang out. Like a little Magikarp party. If you can find one of those, you’re in luck, they say. You will know how to get Magikarp.
There’s also a place called a Magikarp Habitat. I guess these are kind of like Magikarp nests, but they move around. Or something. It’s all very confusing. All you need to know is that if you’re in a Magikarp Habitat, you’re likely to find a Magikarp. I don’t know what to say about this one. It is just hard for me to understand, but that is what my grandson told me.
Now why is it so hard to find these Magikarp? They told me that because of seasonal rotations. I have no idea about that, but that sounds weird. I can understand the seasons but how can a season affect where these Magikarp are? I just can not get that.
Sometimes you can not find Magikarp in Pokemon Go. I think that is really normal. You should not be surprised about that. They are not everywhere all the time, right? That is what I think.
I heard there was this thing called a “Shiny Magikarp“. It’s like a regular Magikarp, but it’s a different color. Gold, I think. Like a golden egg, but a fish. Everyone wants one of those, apparently. They’re rare, you see. Like finding a four-leaf clover, but way more work, I reckon.
My grandson told me that there was a Kanto tour event, I do not really understand what that is, but he told me that was the easiest way to get a Shiny Magikarp. It is all related to these Pokemon Go things. I just can not get that, but that is what he told me.

They say that the beach is a good spot for finding Magikarps. Makes sense, I guess. Lots of water there. But like I said, we ain’t near the beach round these parts. If you are, though, that might be a good place to look.
So, there you have it. That’s everything I know about finding Magikarps in Pokemon Go. It’s a lot of work for a little fish, if you ask me. But if that’s what you’re into, then go for it. Just remember to stay safe, and don’t go falling into any lakes while you’re staring at your phone. And if you see a Shiny Magikarp, tell my grandkids. They’d be mighty jealous.
